WKORV, WKV, SDO, 4-Kauai Beach Villas, Island Park Village (Yellowstone), Hyatt High Sierra, Dolphin's Cove (Anaheim) NEW: 3 Lawa'i Beach Resort!

Making Maui his home base for many years, just like with his restaurant, where he enjoys occasional pop-ins to greet diners, he plans to become a familiar presence in Paia.

In tandem with the store launch, Fleetwood has formed a new island-based band called House of Rumours, to present occasional gigs. Former New York session guitarist Joe Caro is serving as music arranger, and the band includes Gretchen Rhodes, Eric Gilliom, Mark Johnstone, Lenny Castellanos and Paul Marchetti. Hawaiian falsetto star Raiatea Helm and percussionist Lopaka Colon will also perform with House of Rumours at some shows.

Good for him! He deserves to enjoy his retirement.

Speaking of his restaurant, does anybody have any comments about the place? We'll be on Maui next summer, and we're always looking for fun places to eat.

We were going to go to Fleetwood's during Happy Hour when we were there a few years ago. But their Happy Hour was not outside on their upper deck but inside where it was dark. We left and went to Kimo's instead. Had Mai Tais and Hula pie.

I went by Fleetwoods last month to take a look, as dining on the deck was recommended. Looking at the menu, there was nothing that grabbed me so I didn't make a reservation (If I was a Fleetwood fan, I may have made more of an effort to go). I'm not sure if these would be new to you, but on Front street (on the ocean side of the street), I really enjoyed Star Noodle, so-much-so I went there twice. Same great waterfront tables as Honu and Frida's Mexican restaurant (right next door), but tasty Asian inspired food, great seafood, and all done in a unique way. The place is booked way in advance, but is reservable on Yelp. They also have a decent amount of parking, which really helps in that area.

Also in Lahaina (opposite end across from Bad Ass Coffee), but down some steps into an open-air courtyard was an excellent and casual restaurant Down the Hatch. You place your order at a counter and take a number, you pick your table and they bring it to you. There is a long bar and tables all around a koi pond, it was really nice to start the day there. They open at 7:30 and have a great breakfast menu (legendary chicken and waffles or ahi tuna Benedict anyone?). I really wanted to make it to their Happy Hour, but the timing didn't work out. So no view there, but great food at a fair price.

Having a great and expensive meal in Maui is easy, there are plenty of places to suggest -- but the two I mentioned were places that even locals recommend.

We love Fleetwoods on Front. Ate there on the rooftop for the first time in February 2020. We went there early for their sunset show and sat at the bar until time for our dinner reservation. we felt it was one of our favorite evenings on that trip.

We are on Maui now and have a Fleetwoods rooftop reservation for Tuesday evening. Looking forward to it.
