It doesn't say how long but they have a lot of work to do.

Yuck. That is pretty bad.

I enjoy going there. I like their beer and their frost rail.

I suspect that if they apply themselves that they could correct their deficiencies quickly. I suspect that their pest control company fell down on the job for the roaches and rodents.

From the article, it sounds like they didn't keep up with cleaning also. There was grease buildup that attracted the rodents and pests. The Pest Control Company fills out a report of their findings for maintenance that needs to be corrected for the program to work. That report is filled out and has to be filed and kept on site for the inspectors to audit.

Pest control is only going to work if the other maintenance is completed also. This was a part of my job when I worked as a Food Safety Program Manager here in Hawaii.

You are correct that it can be corrected quickly. All the deficiencies need to be corrected and another inspection has to be completed before they an reopen. Sounds like it needed a deep cleaning so it could be 3 days to a week, I would guess.

Maui Brewing has been pretty meh in my opinion for years. I'm hoping this shakes them up a bit and they make changes.

They will reopen on Friday (this from a source who lives on Maui).

Do they need Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares to come in?

On our last trip to Maui, we sampled Kohola brewery and Waikiki brewing (both in Lahaina). Both had decent IPA's. Maui Brewing "Big Swell" is always a favorite of mine.

I have enjoyed a few visits to the Kihei, but never visited the Lahaina location for some reason.. hopefully they get things sorted out

The Health Dep't hanging a red tag on the door of an eating/drinking establishment has a way of getting their attention PDQ!
