What kind and size do others recommend? Our new CA King mattress is too firm. I'm leaning toward a 2" Latex. Thanks.

Several years ago, we got a 3" topper from Costco which is similar to Tempurpedic or firm memory foam. Still love it and wish we had one in the travel trailer.

Yep, that is the same one that we have. We don't use it at home anymore as we just bought a Sleep Number bed a few weeks ago... and seriously, that Costco topper is more comfortable than the Sleep Number bed that we have! We are still working with the Sleep Number folks to figure out if they have a different model... we paid about $10K for this bed and it is not more comfortable than the $200 Costco foam. :)

Costco has quite a few. Do you remember which one? Thanks.

I wish I did remember the brand, but we didn't save any of the wrappings and the topper isn't marked. I don't believe it was Kirkland branded. Perhaps sptung remembers? You might also consider asking their customer service which brand they carried several years ago. Worse case, there is the wonderful Costco return policy if you don't like it.

Seriously, I bet we've had this 6 or 7 years and it's holding up great--we just rotate it once or twice a year. I do remember it took about 4 days or so after taking it out of rolled packaging for it to restore (inflate) to normal size. It also came with its own mattress pad which has a zip-around pocket for the topper to slide into, and the mattress pad machine washes very well.

I don't remember the brand either as they had only 1 type/brand in the store. It was rolled up and smelled quite a bit when it first came out of the box. Looking at reviews on the website I would lean towards the 3 inch Novaform Seasonal topper or the 3 inch Novaform pure comfort memory foam. I have been looking at the Costco site as I am going to order another one for travel as I gave the topper away together with our humongous 4-poster bed and mattress to my contractor when clearing space for my Sleep Number bed.

Just be careful with a deep cushy topper. I love them, and a couple of years ago we bought a firm new mattress and a 3" latex topper. (My DH has back problems, so the idea was that the firm mattress would be good for him and I would have this nice soft topper.)

Everything was okay for a while and then I began to have back problems. Not DH, who already had back problems, but ME! Went to the doctor and it turned out I had two slipped disks in my lower back. I did physical therapy for months and things would be better and then worse.

Finally I realized that I was getting "stuck" by sinking down into the soft topper, and I was wrenching my back to unstick myself every time I turned. And I'm a restless sleeper, so that was a few times a night.

We yanked off the topper and put it away and now we just have a regular mattress pad. No more back problems for me. If I were to get another topper--because I do love that cushy feeling--I would be very cautious and try a one-inch topper. HTH!

Have a down filled mattress topper on a cal-king bed and really like it.

Any suggestions on what to take on a trip to London? The beds at the Allen House aren't that great and we'll be there for two weeks. I checked EMS for Roll-ups and they are too narrow.

We got one of the Costco memory foam toppers for our bed in our RV. It's really comfortable. :)

Right now the Cosctco memory-foam topper is on-sale (30% off) thru Costco on-line... (thru Oct)
