Mass. Authorities Seek to ID Toddler in 'Baby Doe' Mystery - by Molly Line/ U.S./ Home/ foxnews.com

"Investigators in Massachusetts are seeking the public’s help to solve a horrific mystery and identify a little girl whose body was found in a trash bag on the shoreline of a Boston Harbor island.

Though her remains were discovered last week by a woman out walking her dog, no one has come forward to report a child missing.

A computer-generated composite image of the girl—dubbed “Baby Doe” –was created by the national Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Investigators believe the girl was about four years old. She had brown eyes and brown hair that was about 14 inches long. She stood about three-and-a-half feet tall and weighed just over 30 pounds..."

Earrings Added to Computer Image of Girl Found Dead on Beach - From Associated Press/ apnewsarchive.com

BOSTON (AP) —" Massachusetts police have added earrings to the computer-generated image of a young girl whose remains were found in a trash bag on a Boston Harbor beach, continuing their quest to learn the girl's identity.

The new image was posted Thursday on the state police Facebook page. The previous image, portraying a girl with long brown hair, chubby cheeks and expressive brown eyes, had been seen by about 47 million people as of Wednesday.

Police have been trying to identify the child since June 25, when a woman walking her dog on Deer Island found the remains in a trash bag. The girl was believed to be around 4 years old..."

This is just tragic. When I saw you had updated the thread I hoped it was good news. Just so sad. I hope they figure out who that poor girl was.

Massachusetts Police in Billboard Campaign to Identify Dead Girl - from Reuters/ reuters.com

"Police in Massachusetts on Monday launched a billboard campaign to try to identify a 4-year-old girl whose body, stuffed in a trash bag, was found by a woman walking her dog on the waterfront almost a month ago.

The Massachusetts State Police said a computer-generated image of what the girl may have looked like while alive will be mounted on 84 billboards around the state as they continue to search for any clues as to the girl's identity and to answer the question of how her remains turned up on Deer Island, a narrow spit of land in Boston Harbor.

The girl would have stood about 3-1/2 feet tall and weighed about 30 pounds, was wearing black-and-white polka-dotted leggings and found with a zebra-print fleece blanket that police say they believe may have been dear to her. Her remains were found on June 25..."

I wish I had better news to post. Unfortunately, I don't.

Experts: "Baby Doe" Perhaps Placed on Boston Shoreline - By Lawrence Crook III, Azadeh Ansari and Greg Botelho, CNN/ U.S./ cnn.com

"(CNN)"Baby Doe" may not have gone far. In fact, while she was found on a rocky shoreline in Boston Harbor, experts don't even know whether her body spent time in the water.

That's what experts think now based on the latest information they have on the mysterious girl, whose adorable brown eyes and cherubic face -- as rendered by forensic artist Christi Andrews and distributed by authorities in Massachusetts -- caught the attention of millions.

Investigators puzzle over clues in "Baby Doe" case

The tiny body was found June 25 wrapped in a black trash bag, wearing polka dot pants lying next to a zebra blanket along the shore of Deer Island, a narrow peninsula just east of Boston's Logan Airport. The tragedy was evident from the start, but the girl's identity as well as her story, was not.

Among other clues, authorities tried to piece it together by taking pollen found on the girl's pants and blanket and sending it to a government lab for analysis.

Experts there determined that this pollen "came from trees and plants around Boston," said Jake Wark, a spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney''s Office.

"This pollen analysis also suggests that 'Baby Doe' may have been placed on the shoreline, rather than washed ashore from a great distance," added Wark..."

This is such a sad story. The only reason I can see nobody missing her is because whoever would miss her is no longer living also:(

This was what the talk was about in our work lunch room yesterday. If she had family...they may have been killed also, she is just the first body to be found. So sad.

Utah Lab Could Hold Key to ID of Massachusetts 'Baby Doe' - From Fox News/ US/ foxnews.com

"A break in the effort to identify a toddler whose body was found two months ago on a rocky beach near Boston could come as early as Tuesday, when a Utah forensic laboratory turns its findings over to Massachusetts authorities.

Police hope IsoForensics Laboratory in Salt Lake City can tell them where 3-year-old “Baby Doe,” whose body was found on the shore of Deer Island in Winthrop, lived and traveled during her tragically short life. The lab’s technique of analyzing hair and tooth enamel for telltale isotopes has a proven record in the most stubborn of cold cases.

“We often get called in as a last resort,” said IsoForensics President Leslie Chesson, who said her company has been working on the case for several weeks and expects to send its findings to Massachusetts State Police early this week..."

Utah Lab Sends 'Baby Doe' Test Results to Local Investigators - From 7 News/ Boston WHDH/ whdh.com

BOSTON (WHDH) - "The Salt Lake City lab analyzing evidence in the “Baby Doe” case has forwarded test results to investigators.

The lab tested hair and teeth samples from the body of a 4-year-old girl whose body was found on Deer Island in June. The testing was done in the hopes of learning where she lived in the weeks and months before she died.

On Monday, scientists at the lab forwarded a draft report to police.

According to the Massachusetts State Police, preliminary test results suggest the child may have spent time in any of several New England states, as well as other locations across the US. Scientists have not yet compared the biological evidence with drinking water samples in other countries..."

Thanks for the update. I was curious about this case. So sad. It's just awful that it was her mom and moms boyfriend. And she was only 2!?! Heartbreaking.

Baby Doe now has a name. Bella Bond was just shy of 3 years old when she died as an apparent homicide victim. She lived her short life just a very few miles away from where her discarded body was discovered a few months ago.

The system will now run its' own course, but I personally hope there is a very special place in Hell for someone who could purposely and willfully harm and kill a two year old child --- and then dispose of the body in a plastic bag like discarded trash, all before she even saw her third birthday --- and then just somehow quietly go on about one's day. The collective pure evil of those acts is simply incomprehensible.

Persistent investigative work was finally helped by one stray piece of citizen-volunteered information that promptly set all the dominoes falling.

Massachusetts does not have the death penalty. I don't want to introduce, discuss or politicize this sideline topic but after this horrific case that situation may get some scrutiny in that state. Adoption of the death penalty apparently lost by a single vote in the MA legislature not very many years ago.

Baby Bella's Mother, Boyfriend Charged in Boston Toddler's Killing - by Faith Karimi, CNN/ cnn.com

(CNN)"A toddler found dead and known as Baby Doe now has a name -- Bella Bond. And police have arrested her mother and the woman's boyfriend.

Authorities found Bella's remains in late June in Boston Harbor, shocking residents who wondered what happened to the brown-eyed little girl with an angelic face.

Mystified authorities sought clues: Who was she? How did she die? Where were her parents?

And most importantly, why would anyone kill a baby?

Mother charged

New answers emerged Friday following charges against her mother, Rachelle Bond, 40, and her boyfriend, Michael McCarthy, 35.

He was charged with murder; she was charged as an accessory to murder after the fact, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conley said..."
