Are there any Marriott timeshares I can buy that have dual affiliation with II and RCI?

Yes, here are a few of the dual affiliated Marriott Resorts:

Desert Springs Villas I (phase 2 only exchanges through II)
Sunset Pointe
Harbour Club at Harbour Town
Heritage Club
Sabel Palms
Royal Palms
Cypress Harbour
StreamSide at Vail, Douglas and Birch (Evergreen only exchanges through II)

There may be one or two more, but these are the ones I can think of.

Steve

Monarch at Sea Pines

Thank you for the list of Marriotts w/dual affiliation.
I read somewhere in TUG that the reason there are some Marriotts still with RCI is because those owners were grandfathered in and so does that mean that if I were to buy, I would be grandfathered in too and I could use RCI or II? And if so, can I freely switch back and forth between the 2 exchange companies or once I switch to II, I have to stick with II?

Once affliated always affliated (except DVC)

Once you own it you get to choose which company you use whenever you want. You control it not the resort. Only DVC, or any other RTU where you don't own but merely take on a long term obligation to pay the fees, controls how you can use your time for exchange. If you own a deeded use they cannot place artificial limits on how you use your time.

This wording, from the MVCI site, excludes Harbour Point:
Marriott Vacation Club International resorts that can exchange through Resorts Condominiums International:

StreamSide, Aspen, Birch, Cedar, Douglas (not Evergreen)
Cypress Harbour
Desert Springs Villas (not Desert Springs Villas II)
Harbour Club at Harbourtown
Heritage Club at Harbourtown
Monarch at Sea Pines
Royal Palms
Sabal Palms
Sunset Pointe

Is this true of any resort that you see that trades in both RCI or II, or, as in the case for Marriott's Shadow Ridge, are there some phases/sections of resorts that will only trade RCI/II? How do you find out which is the case when you're looking at a resale unit?

Most Marriotts trade only in II. Stated differently, Marriott has an affiliation with II and you can easily deposit your week with II and obtain an internal preference in trading for other Marriotts.

Except for those resorts listed above, you cannot trade a Marriott week in RCI. You can, however, select one of the independent exchange companies (such as SFX) and trade there or try to do a direct exchange with another timeshare owner.

Thus, your only choice between RCI and II for a Shadow Ridge week would be II.

NO, to trade with RCI and II, your resort must have an agreement with them for them to accept your deposit. (Shadow Ridge trades only with II)

BUT, independent exchange companies don't require that agreement. So, most resorts owners can deposit and trade with most of the independent exchange companies. (Shadow Ridge trades with almost all independents)
