We are at Shadow Ridge right now. I get the feeling it is the Grande Vista of the desert. Similar golf setup with a Nick Faldo course and The Grill. It seems it was planned to be very large at over 900 units, but only seems about half built and the remaining land is now for sale. Does anyone know the status of the resort. The old numbers that I have indicate 500 units were built with 487 additional planned. Though I am not sure if that was before Enclaves was built out. Also, what is with Enclaves? This is the section we are in and we really like it, but why the different section and architecture? Rooms seem kind of small, but we really do kind of like the configuration of the 2BR. Just looking for some information on how many units they actually have here. I could call up the front desk, but they have a tendency to tell you how many keys vs how many sellable units a resort has.

The link in post 3 linked below says 569 built, 430 unbuilt.

Thanks, I did try combing through old financial statements from VAC because I know that is where my data came from initially. I even commented on this thread from 2017 but never updated my records. It looks like my numbers were prior to Enclaves. It looks like with Enclaves they added 69 units but only decreased the planned units by 57. So why was Enclaves built the way it was. The design almost seems like an afterthought.

Interesting about Marriott possibly trying to sell some excess land.

I own a Deluxe unit at the Enclaves. I've never been there. We have always stayed at the Villages. I suspect that I wouldn't like the smaller room size and sliding wall. But it trades very well. A little bit better than my Platinum/Red Desert Springs 2.

I don’t know the definitive answer about the different design, but as may be as simple as the same reason there are differences between DSV I and DSV II.

We stayed in an Enclaves unit once. For us that was enough. We had guests with us and found the sliding wall of the master suite offered very little insulation. I tend to get up earlier than most. I couldn’t watch TV without disturbing my wife. We also didn’t care for the tiny patio (ground floor unit) two chairs and a small table for a 2 bedroom unit with 4 adults made it impossible to enjoy.

I think after you spend a few nights in the unit, you’ll see the drawbacks to it. Ext time we’re in Palm Desert we’ll book any of the other three, but not Enclaves.

I agree! the sliding wall gives little privacy. I feel this is more of a large studio then a true one bedroom unit.

We are on a top floor and I thought the patio was pretty big in the 2BR standard we are in, though it does just have the two loungerstyle chairs. Also no patio off the studio units would be a big drawback on those. I know they have some 1BR deluxe and 1BR standard. Do you know if you were in a standard or deluxe? I think some of these 2BR units lock off into two 1BR units vs just the 1BR and studio. I suspect it is a similar setup to how the deluxe 2BR units work at Lakeshore Reserve.

So there are a lot of different unit types here and I am trying to figure them all out. I think I have them all but don't know the difference between a standard studio and a deluxe studio. Here are the codes and how I think they tie into the point chart.

IVMTShadow Ridge EnclavesN/A1BR large portion of two master suite 2BR unit.
OVTMShadow Ridge EnclavesN/A1BR portion of 2BR unit.
OVTGShadow Ridge EnclavesN/A1BR small portion of two master suite 2BR unit.
TOVIShadow Ridge EnclavesN/A2BR dedicated unit.

ZZABShadow Ridge EnclavesN/A2BR unit that locks off in to 1BR and studio.

I can't find a floorplan for the 2BR Standard Lock Off but it looks identical to the 2BR Standard Dedicated villa just with lock off doors and a king with pullout in the guest bedroom (studio side).

I looked at a number of floor plans via Google Search because Marriott Vacation Club doesn't even list this property separately on their website and they have no floor plans for the Enclaves. I am not really sure I have the 1BR portions or studio deluxe right. The 1BR side of the 2BR LO seems to look the same as the large 1BR of the 2BR Deluxe.

Do I have these right?

If it were just my wife and I, it would likely have been fine, but with 4 people and only 2 chairs, it became pretty small
