Yesterday, I exchanged into Canyon Villas @ Desert Ridge for Christmas 2026. I noticed my confirmation says:

Important Advisements
Guests may NOT use the facilities at the adjacent JW Marriott on Saturday, Sunday, holidays or other times of high occupancy. Please contact the resort for details. Construction/renovation/maintenance projects may be ongoing, year-round and are typically noted. For concerns about unforeseen projects, please contact the resort directly.

Does anyone know if there is planned construction for December 2026? I searched their website and didn't see anything noted, but maybe it is behind the owner's portal. Also, if I'm exchanging into the property via II will I have to pay the $30 parking fee?

The hub is the best place for this information. Though it is also sometimes wrong. The parking fee won't apply as you are staying on a timeshare based stay.

Are you already planning for 2026 Christmas? I’m still planning for my upcoming 2025 Christmas stay at Canyon Villas.

JW - - you can go to their (somewhat overpriced) restaurants and bars 7/365. The only thing limited is the pool and water feature. In the past we had to ask for JW cards to get in to the pool But the pools at MCV are nice and I personally wouldn't bother to go to the JW in December and then shiver my way back to MCV.

Construction/renovations: probably boiler plate. So, I'd suggest contacting the resort.

Parking fee for exchangers? No. I think that Marriott only charges for nightly renters.

Unless they have changed it, there is a cowboy singer by the name of Marshall Pioneer Pepper on Thursday nights down by the lobby firepit and is also associated with a "cowboy dinner" from the grill (optional). It may sound corny but it is good entertainment and Pepper is quite a showman.

I'm still planning 2025 Christmas, and we aren't traveling this year! I started decorating my tree 2 days ago. I might have to leave it up through February to get the 'value' out of my hard work. LOL! I jumped on the 2026 exchange because a 2BR Marriott popped up with check-in/out dates that don't fall on Christmas or Christmas Eve. (I don't have M preference.) If you visit the JW during your stay, can you let me know what you think about the Jingle @ JW events?

Thanks! My teens might disagree, but I'm not as worried about JW pool access as I am about potential construction. Hopefully, the construction notice is boilerplate. I'll keep an eye out for the cowboy dinner. That sounds fun!
