Hi, I am a new Marriott timeshare owner and would like to trade my Studio (from 2 bed lock off) at MGV for studio at Beach Place Towers at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I know there are no Washer/Dryer in room, but does the Vacation club have a paid laundry facility onsite ? Is November- December a good time to visit the place ?
Thanks.

Yes, they have laundry on-site. I personally think Nov-Dec is a good time to visit.

Next time instead of trying to exchange into MBP you should try and use the Florida Club and book directly with your ownership. You can do it online at 6 months out. This way you don't have to pay the exchange fee. Not sure about parking.

I believe there is a FREE laundry room onsite ... as 1/1 units do have the W/D units. When I stumble across the room, I was surprised ... but never used it.

Parking costs money .. last I recall it was $14 daily.

There is a laundry south on Ocean, traffic light before Sunrise Blvd, 1/2 block down on the LEFT which has a Wash & Fold service by the pound. Just across the street is the Ice Cream store ... which if you walk by that towards Sunrise Blvd, sits the World Famous Parrot Bar & Lounge (27+ TV sets with Sports or anything else) plus good bar food ... bring quarters for the parking meters.

PS You are on vacation ... spend you time wisely. ;)

As Saintsfanfl suggested do try and use the Florida Club (assuming your unit is a member of the Florida Club). Using the Florida Club will save you the cost of an exchange.

Additionally, if I recall correctly, your daily $14 parking fee might possibly be waived. BeachPlace owners don't have to pay a daily parking fee, and by using the Florida Club you are an owner there. I am not sure this has changed but maybe Dioxide will read this and pipe in his two cents about this particular issue.

Many will say you won't need a car while you are there so give that issue some thought so you don't need to waste rental car fees. Remember, you are in the city, and can walk to just about everything. Uber is always an option!

Enjoy your trip.

All Beachplace units are in the Florida Club. The only units excluded of the five resorts are a few at Grande Vista.

Booking with Florida Club is new to me. I am still trying to understand II. Could one of you please point me to details (website/phone numbers/existing TUG postings ). I have not exchanged yet, was planning to as there are available units on II.

There is a lot of info to be gleaned in the Weeks FAQ Sticky....including a link to this thread. Make sure you click on the document linked in Post #2.

Here's the link that Fasttr is referring to:

It's true that with FC there is no parking fee and no exchange fee since with your FC ownership you are considered an owner at all five FC resorts.

All of the Marriott's that have lockoffs that we've stayed at have had laundry facilities on every other floor, although we've never stayed in a studio so had no need to use them. A quick call will confirm if this is true at BeachPlace.

Great information from everyone.
Reading your posts vns, just in case you have any doubt, booking through Florida Club does not involve II at all and is all done entirely within MVC.

Thank you for all your help. My unit is not part of Florida club. I just used II and completed exchanging MGV studio to studio at
Marriott's BeachPlace Towers for week 51. Excited !!!:cheer:

Every time we have stayed at a lock-off Marriott resort and have checked the laundry room facilities, they have been free. I have yet to see one that has a charge.

I am certainly not an expert. Though I am quite outspoken against Beach Place's policy regarding the parking fee. I am not really sure if the fee applies to Florida Club reservations. It is true that it should be treated like a home resort reservation, but I recall reading on here that the parking fee still applies to FC reservations. The only people that have it waived are those BP owners using their home resort week(s) or those exchanging back in with their home resort week(s). Of course a lot may depend on who checks you in, so YMMV.

I would agree. I have never seen coin laundry facilities. They are always free.

The laundry room is around the corner from the lobby, about across the hallway from the gym. I don't think I've ever had a studio at Beachplace but know I walk past it if I walk my morning towels and chairs back towards the elevators while trying to avoid a crowded lobby. Also, the parking is not only expensive but is many floors up the garage and requires two sets in passes to get out. Much easier is to buy a week pass from the garage operator (office on the first floor of the garage) and park on a lower floor. A lot, lot faster as well as less costly.

Oops. My brain had this switched. OP is not in FC.

One thing about being an "owner" and the FC. The reservation is an "owner" type but we still are not "weeks" owners. Not sure what benefits would be held back but you definitely cannot get a day use pass at Ocean Pointe without being a weeks owner there. If the waived parking fee is a similar lookup then it makes sense that you would have to pay for parking.

By OP, do you mean the Original Poster, Ocean Pointe or Oceana Palms? The first could be in the Florida Club depending on the unit number they own. The second is definitely in the Florida Club, though the last is not.

The wonders of acronyms!

We've never paid a parking fee with our FC reservations at BPT, and that includes guests that we've sent as well. We haven't reserved BP in the last 3 years, so I suppose that may have changed.

Since I never used it, I didn't realize that the laundry was fee free, and I've edited my post to reflect that. Thanks for pointing that out.

Could someone tell me what the "Florida Club" is? We own a couple of weeks (that we convert to DVP) in Florida and have for some years but I never heard of this club and the potential benefits of belonging. There's so much to learn . . .

Here's Dioxide's pdf that was linked above: Florida Club Explained

I have used the Florida Club(beach place unit) to exchange (6 months out) into Ocean Pointe, so I know for a fact that Ocean Pointe is in the FC. As to an FC exchanger getting the parking fee waived at BP, I would call BP to verify; I certainly would not assume the fee would be waived.

According to MVCI, Florida Club reservations at any FC resort are all considered home resort reservations. To clarify for those unfamiliar with the program, the language above that uses the word "exchange" is incorrect. There is no exchange company nor exchange fee involved. You merely use your home ownership week to reserve 6 months in advance of check-in at any one of the other four resorts. It really is as easy as that. For anyone who would like further clarification, I urge you to please view the PDF document prepared by dioxide45 and linked above.

Thank you dioxide45 for your work on the PDF. When we bought our FC weeks, we were uncertain how to make it work for us. Thanks to your PDF simply explaining the process, we've enjoyed many stays at the different FC resorts with no additional exchange fees.

The reservation information in the MVCI account will show as "Sister Resort" rather than home resort. I am not saying they look at it any differently but it is not quite the same as a home report reservation when looking at the front end within MVCI. Marriott.com might be indistinguishable.

I guess I should not have used the work 'exchange' as the mechanics of making the FC reservation on line via the MVC web page is nearly identical to making a res at your home resort, the only difference is that you need to be within 6 months of your checkin date. My comment regarding whether BeachPlace will charge for parking still stands; I don't know if they will/will not waive the fee.

I had forgotten about FC mainly because I love the location of MBP...it's like a second home to me to pass part of a bitter winter in Toronto. December and January can be coolish there and not generally considered platinum prime weeks...but there's so much to see within easy walks north and south of the TS...you really don't need a car or cooking facilities as there are also shuttle busses and water taxi's minutes away. Parking there is a real pain whether you pay or not...especially in good beach weather when even the locals come to the beach.

FC is virtually useless for the mid Feb to mid Mar period as owners line up 12 -13 months ahead to book them for personal use, like me. I tried to book and pay for added space next Feb-Mar 2018 using the 2vc code...already none available for that discount price...but a 1BR rents from Marriott for about $2,500 for 7 nights...almost twice as much as the 2 BR MF for the week. A lot of owners split and book those weeks to rent and make money because of the demand. I might do that next year too.
