I am trying to decide if I should go to south lake tahoe in June. Does anyone know what the weather is like in early June in lake tahoe?? Is this during "mud week" where the snow is just melting ??. How far is the drive from lake Tahoe to Yosimete national park ??.

"mud week" depends a lot on the season, and this year later than normal....
But for the most part, smow melt may not have much impact on what you do. When we have been there in June the weather has been great.
The valley is at 6000 feet so there isn't much of an issue unless your in the high country. Yosemite from Tahoe is a long drive as there is no direct easy path, epsecially in June as many of the mountain passes can still be closed. 50 down the hill to 49 or 99 and then back up 120 into the park.

Average High Temperature 69
Average Low Temperature 37
Average Precipitation 0.6"
Average Snowfall 0.3"
Average Number of Rainy Days 1.5

Depends probably on where you want to go in Tahoe. The main roads, city areas and around the lake are pretty empty of snow by then. Ski resorts should be closed by then as well. But you might still see snow on the mountains and some high elevations might be closed or limited.

Tahoe to Yosemite is not an easy drive. Probably the best ways are going north on 80 to Reno, then down 395, or back down 50 to 5 to Yosemite.

Except that Tioga pass may still be closed. In anycase there is no need to go back to Reno, just take Kingsburry Grade over to 395 From South Shore.

WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD TIMESHARE TO STAY AT THEN IF I WANT TO GO TO YOSIMETE. I CAN STAY A NIGHT THERE BUT IT SEEMS THAT IT IS MAINLY CAMPING. ALSO WHAT WOULD BE BEST TIME TO GO TO YOSIMETE

THANKS

That's right - Tioga is often closed til at least mid July, IIRC.

Tahoe in June-September is wonderful weather however it's still pretty dead up there until July 4th and then again after Labor Day.

The most direct way to Yosemite is Rt 395 & it should take you a little over 4 hours so it is slow going.....

There are no timeshares very close to Yosemite but there are two Worldmarks that are 5 star (somewhat) near by - Angels Camp & Bass Lake. Yosemite offers tent cabins that are really fun to stay in if you are the least little bit adventurous. If you are willing to spend some big bucks stay at the Ahwahnee Lodge right in the park. It's gorgeous!

I think the fastest way is to go down 395 to Lee Vining then take 120 across but don't do what I did and wait until you get to Lee Vining to find out that no only was Tioga closed, but so was Sonora and I had to detour back north Halfway to Tahoe and go ove Monitor and Ebbetts passes. +6 hours.
My cousin was coming up via bishop (She lives in Orange County) and she didn't know about Monitor and Ebbetts so she DID detour back up through Tahoe. +10 hours.
This all took Place in May of 2005.

I actually spent a week in Tahoe this May and couldn't have had better weather and there was no mud. I think you'd be fine to go in June.

The Timber Lodge is Beautiful but if you can, exchange in to the Grand Residence Club.

Finally, Most Campsites in Yosemite only have bear-boxes big enough to accomodate the average-size cooler and it's prohibited to keep anything in your car that a bear might confuse with food. So Pack light. Personally I think their bear policies are a little paranoid but I guess that's better than being Bear-annoyed.:hysterical:

We are also looking to trade into Marriott Timber Lodge for next summer. We have a reservation on hold for early June also.

Is there a place to go to see what the Platinum and Gold Seasons are for this resort?

Are we better off waiting until July, or does it not make much of a difference?

Thanks!

I saw both timberlodge and Grand residence Club available for exchanges next june. grand residence however does not have washer and dryer but does look much nicer. Is the diference worth the no washer and dryer ??
I have litle kids that constantly need to wash new cloths. thanks

You've got a great point. Maybe you better just do the Timber Lodge.
Also, may/june are a great time to go to Yosemite because the rivers are still full and there should fewer tourists.

We were at Marriott Timber Lodge the 1st week of June this month, and it snowed twice! I think July/August are MUCH better than early June for outdoor activities in Tahoe. In my opinion, it's too far from Yosemite to Tahoe for a daytrip - better to add a couple of days at the end of your trip and stay over night. Tioga Pass is almost never open in June.

Thank you
I will try to find somethig in August/sept to be safe, Mayby add the Yosemite to the end of trip and do some camping. I am already going to Florida (OP) in July next year.

Keep in mind that the first week in August is usually Hot August Nights and the area can be more crowded ( and difficult to find a place to stay) and Reno certainly is packed.

Hummmm... Guess that must be why we usually go in August.:D
