Hello TUGers,
I haven't been on the forum in many years. Getting on the forum to help a friend. Her Dad has three TS properties, but he doesn't use any of them. So, she is trying to figure out how to best use them, rent them, or sell them. One of the TSs is in Marco Island, FL 1st week of January and they are using that every year. I will post two separate posts seeking help on the other two.

For Marriott Surf Watch, her Dad owns a floating week (I assume it's also a floating unit). She has no idea how to use the TS, or how to rent it (e.g., where, TUG site, RedWeek, somewhere else?), or how to sell it (does the Marriott take back units into their inventory?) Is there a good POC at the resort that I could contact to get additional answers? She recently just got a log in for the resort, but after checking, found no inventory for the year. How far out does Marriott Surf Watch get booked? Can the owner pay a MF a year (or more) in advance to get access to inventory sooner?

Hoping some Marriott Surf Watch owners can provide some help.

Thanks

What season, view and unit size?

Platinum Surfwatch weeks have value and can easily be sold or rented.

Gold weeks have some value, not as high as platinum weeks.

Silver & Bronze weeks are a liability with zero value and the best course of action for those is likely to see if Marriott will accept them as deedbacks for zero.

Thanks jwalk03 - I have asked the owner's daughter to call and find out what they have and then I can help advise her better.

She has a Silver, 2BR + 2 BA, oceanvista/gardenview. Sounds like that would have not much value (trading, sale, rent), but what are the silver times and how early should she try to book something for silver? I told her to maybe try it for a year before trying to deedback. She looked for availability for this year and didn't find any.

If she has left it too late to book something for 2025, contact MVC and they will provide a replacement week in an II account. It should exchange in II reasonably well, particularly if she puts in a request at least 12 months out and isn't looking for a very popular location at a very popular time.

For Silver season, week 12 is probably the best choice for use...we often stay that week at Surfwatch and it's usually beautiful. Certainly not swimming in the ocean yet, but typically weather in the 70s.

I think that 2 BR will trade very well in Interval, even back into gold season HHI if there is some flexibility on when your friend can travel.
