Resorts Owned
Lakeside Terrace Avon
We have owned an "event" week in Avon Colorado since 1998 and we have used it every year, primarily trading through II. We have recently been using it almost every year in Park City Utah at the Marriott Summit Watch in mid July. We finally decided we should just buy a summer week there as we love it so much and then we could still use our Avon week to trade for other destinations. I have been working with a timeshare resell agent via a listing I found on Redweek. It's maintenance fees, a relatively low cost purchase price, closing costs and an admin fee. We would be able to use it July 2024. It seems pretty straight forward but I am just seeking comments of anything I should be aware of. I feel like I have a decent understanding of the timeshare process with the one we own. My biggest question is can I trade this week within the Marriott network with going through II? I know as a resale we can't convert to points which is totally fine. I would just like to know if I could trade for a Marriott in Palm Springs, Arizona, etc possibly or am I just limited to the home resort we own. Thank you in advance.

If your 1998 weeks is enrolled in the Abound points program, the only limitation is that if you want to trade it the new week you buy, it well require a separate II account which you must pay for and you will need to pay any exchange fees to trade with it.

Yes you get MVC to MVC preference in II with a resale week as MVC uses II as the internal weeks exchange platform. See below from your II account, I'm not certain if the fees ae current, but the process is.

I own a Silver week at Summit Watch and I lock off the unit. Usually book the 1 bedroom for the first April week I can and the studio for Thanksgiving week. Almost every year we use one of the weeks to trade into Palm Desert during December or January and the other week back into Summit Watch for a ski week- for 2024 have President's week which I did not really want, and realized it too late to cancel. Have had previous trades to Aruba, WIlliamsburg, Breckenridge, Vail, maultiple Orlando and Hawaii resorts. Unless you need a 2 bedroom or July 4 week, II usually has multiple getaway summer weeks for less than the maintaince fee.

Summit Watch in in the Summer is a very easy trade; and as Carlsbadguy mentioned you can likely even just book a getaway thru II for less than the cost of the maintenance fees.
