January 2006 visit
I was at the Sabal Palms in January and this was my first time at the resort. I was there for a business convention so I liked its location to the Marriott World Center Convention facility.
We stayed in the 4600 building - sorry, can't recall the unit number. Our unit was NOT renovated - I don't know if other building have been or not. Our unit was in okay shape EXCEPT for the master bed. You could see that the bed was old and worn as it had a dip in the center. When we tried it out, we both rolled to the center. Luckily, there was only the 2 of us, so we used the beds in the second bedroom.
The other problem was the ants in the master bathroom. I realize that this is a problem in warm weather resorts and I can live with them. However, it was obvious that "something" was used to kill the ants because they would crawl around on the sink area then die. There were also dead ant bodies on the towels stored underneath the sink. I could also detect some chemical odor around that sink, supporting the idea that "something" was used to kill the ants. My main concern was: what was that "something" used to kill the ants and would it be harmful to me. Again with only two of us, we could use the second bathroom and the sets of towels stored elsewhere.
A few kitchen items were missing - such as some of the glasses and a pan or two. I mentioned this to the front desk because I didn't want to be charged for the missing items. The desk clerk didn't think it was a big deal - just thanked me for reporting it. No one made any attempt to replace the missing items either.
Other than a few stains on the carpet, everything else was in good shape. All in all, it wasn't too bad.
