We used a bunch of our points to get an ocean front room in the Marriott Oceanwatch in Myrtle. I am about to put my "request preference in" and I need some advice. Which is better -the 2 bldgs up front (conch or scallop) or starfish, the middle one. I have stayed in both of the ocean front bldgs before - but only on oceanside. I would like to have one of the rooms where the whole condo faces the ocean. does anyone have any room number suggestions

Thanks

I'd just ask for high floor conch or scallops and you should be very happy with one of those.

We just returned a couple of weeks ago from a week in Villa 1048. The 1 designates the Conch building, the 4 designates the 4th floor and the 8 designates the corner oceanfront villa facing the pools and the ocean. We were directly above the model, if that helps. The villa numbers ending in 9 in the Conch and Scallop buildings are full center oceanfront facing. The Scallop building is building 2 and Starfish is building 3. So the center full oceanfront facing villa on the 6th floor of the Scallop building would be 2069.

We requested the corner so we could have both pool and oceanfront views. Keep in mind that the top floor center villa balcony is uncovered in both Conch and Scallop.

In the Starfish Building there are 5 oceanfront villas on each floor. In the villas on each end the second bedroom faces the back. (towards the woodsy pool) The middle villa has the large balcony. The villas on either side of the middle have standard size balconies. On the top floor of Starfish the inside 3 villa balconies are uncovered. The corner villa balconies are covered.

We have stayed twice in the top floor corner of Starfish nearest the hotel. The views up there are spectacular.

Good thing is you can't go too far wrong with any oceanfront view. Hope this has helped without confusing the issue.

Anything above the sixth floor the higher the better... Just enjoy your week.

So.... should I request above the 6th floor in any building? Or do I need to be requesting a specific building? Should I ask for a room with a #8 in the name?

And re: the uncovered villa, do you think that is desireable or undesireable in August? We will be golfing and doing beach / pool things so I am thinking it won't make a difference. Can't wait to enjoy the week.

I don't own Oceanfront at MOW, and have always wondered about the villas in the Starfish building. The center villas have the HUGE balconies, but the corner units do not. I wonder how they designate who gets the center units, and who gets the corner.

Its a matter of requesting them. I would imagine the Scallop and Conch OF are requested more so if someone likes the Starfish in the center bldgs they could probably get that all the time upon request.
