Dear Group:

We liked MBP this year, but are considering Marriott Ocean Pointe next year. Any thoughts on Ocean Pointe would be great. We liked MBP because it was very walkable and we would like to avoid bringing our car next year. If we go to Ocean Pointe, do I need a car? Is it walkable? If not, is it easy to get an Uber? Is there a nearby car rental? Is there a nearby supermarket? Nearby restaurants? How does the beach compare to MBP (Marriott Beachplace Towers)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Generally speaking you’ll need a car, but it’s not 100% necessary. There is a small grocery store called Grater Gator which I’ve walked to a few times. There are restaurants at the Oceans Mall that are easily walkable. There is the Sailfish Marina, which has a nice restaurant as well as a water taxi for transportation. So while a car makes things more convenient IMO, it’s not 100% necessary.

I can’t answer about Uber but that’s likely an option. We always rent a car at the airport so I can’t really say what’s near to the resort for car rentals.

MPB is more urban. Ocean pointe has more of a resort feel as it’s laid out in 5 different lower rise buildings (maximum 7 floors per building) and has 4 large pools. You also don’t have to walk across the street to reach the beach. It’s a short walk by boardwalk over the dunes.

Some of these restaurants/stores would require a car, but there’s a good look at the Oceans Mall shops/restaurants as well. There is a 7-11 in the oceans mall for simple items.

Awesome, thank-you!

Ocean Pointe is a solid pick if you're after a more laid-back resort vibe. You don’t need a car, but it’d make things easier. There are a few spots within walking distance, like the Oceans Mall and restaurants, and the beach is super accessible.

I’m at Ocean Pointe now. All comments above are accurate. Are you concerned about the car/ parking because of the new daily parking fees imposed on non- owner renters? We rented a car at PBI and to us it’s a must have as we are visiting friends in the Delray/ Boca area while we are here. We are owners so no fee for parking. We really like this resort and its amenities and layout. Rooms were all redone the past couple of years and are very nice. We’ve stayed at BP towers and didn’t like it nearly as well.
