Going to Newport Coast (owner) but just returned from Kauai Beach Club (exchanger). On my Reservation to KBC there was a code that indicated oceanfront unit.

Just checked Marriott.com for my Newport info and there isn't any detailed info on unit location. Is that usually the case?

I thought, NCV didn't have views so, that would be my guess in why there is nothing indicated on your reservations.

Some Marriott resorts that have different categories for different views. But at Marriott's Newport Coast Villas Resort, all villas are in a single category, TOVI. That's a 2-bedroom villa with a balcony.

Some villas have spectacular views. Some villas don't. And others are in-between. For examples, see the last two images in my article at http://www.yesterland.com/ncv.html

As I wrote in the article, "In theory, all units have excellent views. But, in fact, the views range from spectacular 180° ocean views to views of buildings and parked cars. The best view locations go to multiple week owners staying multiple weeks—some stay the whole summer. Timeshare exchange guests should expect a great condo (all condos are the same), but not a great view."

I understand that you can send in a room request about a week before checkin. Because you're an owner, you should get a nice room.

IMHO the best rooms are any room in the 3800 & 3900 bldgs.

Werner: What bldg/unit was your last picture taken in? Lovely review of Newport Coast. Are you coming to the 9/25 meeting? It's my birthday -- isn't it nice of NCV to hold a meeting for me - lol.

In my article at http://www.yesterland.com/ncv.html, the obstructed view is from villa 2326 (building 23), and the spectacular view is from villa 4133 (building 41).

For many of the buildings, the floor is more important than the building. The top floor could have a great view of the ocean, and the bottom floor could have no view of the ocean.

I won't be at the September 27 meeting. An early Happy Birthday to you!

This is very true.

Most all of the bldgs with 1000s & 2000s, the first floor will have no view at all.

The 3800, 3900, 4000- 4200 bldgs, all rooms will have a great view.
