Does this property have a Steam Room? MVC site says yes, Marriott.com does not list this?

I saw a picture on Trip Advisor of a "first floor room with nice patio" Is this true - do some of the rooms have a huge patio? Picture shows an L shaped patio with a steel table and 6 chairs?

Where can you smoke at the property? Can you smoke down by the firepit?

Can someone please post or pm me an email address for the front desk or GM.

Thanks!

It seems to me that many of the MVCI resorts have a steam room but it's hidden in the locker rooms in/around the fitness centers. We've been to Mountainside but, to be honest, I very rarely go into the locker rooms by the fitness centers. Since this is a ski resort it's possible the steam room would be somewhere around the ski lockers.

The unit we had was one of the "dirt view" units. I don't recall any of the units having a patio or balcony.

I'm not a smoker so I have no idea where it's permisable to smoke

I do have a photo album from our 2011 visit which details our 2 bedroom unit and much of the resort grounds. You can view it at http://dougp26364.smugmug.com/Trave...-2011/17682283_CdNSRC#!i=1379449907&k=jPDr2pT

Yes there is a steam room, it's situated within the changing rooms. I don't know if there is a unisex one, I only used the one in the male changing rooms. There is also a sauna. (caveat.... I'm quite certain in my recollection however over the years the various timeshares do tend to merge in my memory!)

As for smoking, my smoking days are long gone so I wouldn't have actively searched for any smoking areas however the fire pits are pretty much outside the doors to the pool area and I doubt very much that they would be allocated as smoking areas, in fact there isn't any area that I would consider as somewhere to be set aside as such, the outside areas are relatively small and not conducive to being separated into distinct smoking and non smoking areas.

There are rooms with large patios and tables as you describe. They face the grill/pool area but are slightly elevated/hidden behind a low wall. I was so interested in them I walked down the hall way and noted the room numbers for future reference and then promptly lost my note. I'm not sure of the floor number but they are just down the hall from the lounge/pool table area.

I am 99% sure that there are no first floor villas with a patio. Most of the ground floor consists of public areas (inside and outside). There are tables and a fire pit just outside the pool area, and there is a nice deck area at the back of the resort. No villas have balconies.

I suggest you look at the resort map on the MVC website. That should show where all of the amenities are located. I only saw one small smoking area near the back gate behind one of the hot tubs. This should be indicated on the resort map.

This is a very nice resort and there is free bus service from the shops next door to the downtown area.

I am 100% sure that there are rooms with large patios that face the grilling area and pool. These patios can be seen to the right as you exit the billiards room out to the fire pits but are only accesable from the rooms behind them. Now what type of room is behind these patios I don't know. I walked down the hall to get the room numbers and they looked the same as every other guest room entrance, room # and all. They could be special function rooms of some sort but are not open access. There are no balconies at Mountainside and there are only about 3 of these private patio rooms (whatever they are)

You have taught me something new about Mountainside. We have been there five times in the summer and I have never noticed any outside patios, or observed people sitting outside in that area. I will have to check it out the next time I am there. I would expect those villas to be very noisy, since we usually avoid the poolside villas in the summer due to noise.

Here is the picture from TA showing a ground level unit with a huge balcony. Not a huge deal, but I was going to request one of these units assuming that you would be able to smoke a cigar on your own patio like at other properties.

Typically Marriott has specific smoking areas but not in the units or on the units patio/balconies. The thought is smoke will waft over to other patios or balconies.

If you're exchanging in, you'll most likely get what's refered to as a dirt view unit. There aren't a lot of good views and those are usually rotated thru owners staying on their time. It never hurts to ask.
