We have a Portugal-Spain trip planned for next May-June. I have had the Portugal ts confirmed through RCI for nearly a year now. My sil was only able to request through Marriott just this past June (1 year out).

She has deposited a 2 bedroom Newport Coast Marriott and is trying for 1 specific week for the Marriott Marbella. What are the chances, IYO, for a week in late May? Also, did I read somewhere that Marriott is building/finishing a new resort in the same area? If so, can anyone please tell me the name and a comparison of the two, if possible.

I should think your chances of an exchange are high. The end of May, early June is still gold season. IMO it's the best time to go, the weather will be fantastic. Sometimes July/Aug is toooo hot!

The other resort is Playa Andaluza, about a 30 min drive towards Estepona. Also fantastic, and now new pools open. Have a look at the Playa thread from Jerseyfinn as he's included some great photos!

Marbella Beach is completed whereas there's still construction at Playa. You'll need a car at both resorts.
