Has anyone found a way around paying $40 a night to park a rental car at this resort? $40 seems quite steep.

If you are on an exchange or using your home week, there is no charge.

So no charge for all exchanges through II?

Don't have a car is the easiest answer. Just kidding as that is probably not the answer you are looking for.

If you have booked your stay any way except through Marriott.com or a discounted stay for a 90 minutes presentation, then there is no parking fee for the first self parked vehicle.

We exchanged there through Interval in November 2019 and we were not charged the daily parking fee for our one self-parked rental car, even though the fee was mentioned in the confirmation.

The $40 fee is for anyone renting from Marriott a "hotel" room/ suite at the resort.

Frank; Is there a nearby (i.e. walkable) car rental location so one can rent a car by the day "as needed"?

I thought that maybe one could walk over to Aulani to get a vehicle for the day and eliminate the need for renting a car for the duration of a Ko Olina visit.

One option is drivehui.com Download and activate the app. 4 vehicles at the Ko Olina Golf Course. Rentals by the hour / day. Use your phone to unlock and lock vehicle. During busy times will need to reserve in advance.

We used Hui rental when we were at Ko Olina in Sept. We only wanted to go grocery shopping. The rental was about $16 an hour (depends on the size of the car available). If you call they will tell you the cost for the day. They were very responsive.
