Has anyone done this using your Destination Points. Thoughts? It’s 2650 pts per person for a 2 day golf clinic. The personnel at the golf academy were delightful on the phone and i understand how it works, just alot of points for 2 people to attend. Did you find it worth it?

Are you talking about the one at Grande Vista in Orlando, Florida. I have several friends to attend the academy and they all enjoyed it. Now this was over twenty (20) years ago.

Depends on what’s included and what are 5he hours I would think. If it’s a couple of hours of group lessons and then practice I would consider it a waste of points. If it was one on one with a morning session followed by say a fitting and then and afternoon session covering the basics followed the next day by a second session reviewing the basics and any specific problems you may be having then yes, it could be worth it. I’ve used their facilities many times over the years and it is a great facility to practice at. We used to stay there for 3 weeks every March and I would spend almost every morning at their facility. Enjoy

Years ago when my Son was about 13 year's old he decided he wanted to take up golf. I don't play but remember my Father who was a good golfer extolling the benefits of learning the right way. He said if one started out with bad habits, he might never get rid of them. Although we lived in Dallas, I used my Marriott points and enrolled my 13 year-old Son in Marriott's one week Golf Academy at Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. My wife objected to my "dumping" him with a group of businessmen for a week but I did it anyway. Two things happened. First, when I picked him up it was obvious that all the guys had adopted him and treated him as their own Son. And Second, he came back playing in the low 70s which he still does today at age 43. I do however think that 2 days is not enough time to significantly improve one's game...

I considered this for my wife and I this July. I was surprised to learn that this amounted to roughly 6000 points for two people, but does not include staying at the resort. During that time of year, that many points is roughly 3 weeks at the resort. As a Presidential owner, I'm strongly to understand the value proposition for anyone not local that would want to expend that many points without including a stay at the resort. Do help me if I'm misunderstanding something! I'd love to have misunderstood this and just got bad information from the Vacation Advisor.

How much does it cost if you pay cash? That should help you toward an answer to your question.

Appears to be $889 for MVC members….which puts the value at about 33 cents a point which seems consistent with other Explorer Collection usages.

You can go on line at the Marriott's Golf Academy for Orlando and looked at their cash prices.
That will answer all your questions and concerns.

Just a follow up. The Golf Academy was very worthwhile and for us….a great use of our points. Our instructor took a great deal of time catering to our specific needs. In our case….Putting. There were 4 of us ( 2 couples) who became great friends and played together each afternoon. Plenty of water on the carts for us and a voucher for lunch each day in the club house. My husband mentioned he wanted new clubs but had not made an appt yet ti be fitted. 2nd morning on our cart was a set of Taylor Made Senior shafts for him to “ get the feel of”
All in all a great 4 days. We used points to stay at Grande Vista so had a place right on site to wind down at each afternoon. Highly recommend if you have points to use. We had plenty because Covid wasn’t easy to travel during…..co even used some for resort cash for meals and drinks at the pool.

To the OP, thanks for sharing your Grande Vista, The Golf Academy experiences.
The Golf Academy instructor worked on my short game and it did help. IMHO
