Hi. I have an ongoing search using my 3 bedroom Marriott Grande Vista for Marriott Disney Paris for next mid July thru mid August. Do I have a good chance on securing a week during that period? I don't know how popular this resort is and was just wondering on my chances. Thanks all.

I don't have any specific knowledge of Marriott Disney France but I have a few thoughts:
1. The TDI of the period that you are interested in, is 150, or the top of the scale. That boils down to the demand being a lot higher than the supply.
2. Marriott France is usually a pretty easy trade during the lower demand periods. I also sometimes see it for very reasonably priced getaways. Also I'll see 2 BR units when searching with a 1 BR. But I think that most of these availabilities were not in the high demand period.
3. I've heard that a lot of Europeans go "on holiday" during the July-August period and that a lot of restaurants, and stores have minimal staff during that period. This translates into poor service or at least longer waits.
4. You have good trading power using a 3 BR (especially if you would accept a 2 BR). But even though you have good trading power, you need someone to deposit their week.
5. If you have the flexibility to travel earlier or later in the year, I think that you may enjoy it better. July/August weather can be warm and humid. Occasional thunderstorms. I've traveled to France during just about every month of the year, but I especially enjoyed May and June as well as Sept. and Oct.

I'm hoping that others with specific exchange experience will chime in to better help you.

My wife exchanged via II our family into a 2BR Marriott Disney Paris twice in 2010 using our MFV week. The first time was a week 22 (first week in Jun). We later cancelled that exchange and then booked a week 34 (last week in Aug) because the August date worked better for us. Week 22 has a TDI of 150 and the week 34 has a TDI of 120. Both the exchanges were about 4 or 5 months in advance.

Based on our (limited) experience, I would expect that your chances of getting a week from Jul to mid-Aug would be pretty good.

The Marriott Disney Paris is very nice as you would expect a Marriott to be. I would note that Disney Paris is so similar to Disney World (albeit significantly smaller) that you can't even tell that you are in France while you are in the park. It feels like you are in the States, including the food!

May I ask, is tdi 150 a Marriott exchange system, or open market like RCI? My Vida was 23 with RCI.

I put in a request about this time last year and in October I was confirmed for a mid-July week using a 1-bedroom MKW (Kauai) deposit. I had most of the summer in the request window but ended up getting the week of Bastille Day which was a nice surprise. The only downside was that we hit a major heat wave across Europe during most of our trip which included England and Germany as well.

TDI is an Interval International term, used to approximate an indication of availability and demand in a particular location only. TDI does not translate across locations. It's on a 50 to 150 scale, with 100 being the market average. It is not the same as TPUs in RCI, though some use it as an approximation of trade power. But II uses many factors in its rather secret determination of trade power.
