Hi I have watched some YouTube. Ideas and read many threads and reviews and over and over people keep saying how DSV 1 is so much better than the cramped DSV two bedrooms.

Unfortunately, I was only able to get DSV 2. It seems like a bad deal compared to 1? No access to JW pools, 300 sq smaller, smaller Fridges and no two queens in second bedroom. I’m curious why the cost to rent is the same for DSV 1 and 2 as form the sound of all the people there is no benefit for DSV 2 just getting less?

They also say the DSV is super noisy all day and night if they stick you in one of the many rooms facing the street-ugh how awful at night?

Is this all true?

I think DSV II is fabulous. It's not cramped at all. It may be smaller than I, but who cares. I've never had a noisy room. We've had some very nice views of the golf course and water feature, and other okay views of the grassy areas. None has been a bad view. We walked over to the JW pool, and I didn't find anything about it that made it seem "better" to me. There are two major pools at the timeshare and some "minor" neighborhood pools (near certain buildings).

In the rental market, DSVI costs more and so does the MF fee, it is almost $300 more per year. I don't think any unit, DSV I or II is noisy.

I have now stayed at all the Marriotts and Westins in Palm Desert and DSVII is still my favourite (and the one we have returned to many times). It has recently been refreshed and it is quite spacious. Enjoy your stay.

DSV II studio is very small. If you are comparing studios between DSV I and II, I would pick I every time. DSV I studio has both a walk-in shower and a separate tub. I hate shower over tub.

Regarding noise: you're correct that there can be street traffic on Cook, Hovely, and Portola. And there can also be noise coming from the JW Marriott hotel that can affect certain areas of DSV1.

My wife is a very light sleeper. Noise is a major issue for her. This is an easy issue to deal with. I place a room request in advance of our stay to notify the resort that we need a room in a quiet location, away from street traffic and not near noisy areas of the resort such as swimming pools. We've stayed numerous times at both DSV1 and DSV2 and not had a noise problem.

DSV2 is a lovely resort that you are likely to enjoy. In some ways it is nicer than DSV1, especially the water features. Take a walk around the property and you'll see.

Do you actually stay in studios? That is my nightmare. :ROFLMAO: If I were staying with another couple I would do DSV 1, for the privacy and space. But for 2 people or a family I think DSVII is pretty much perfect.

No I do not. :) That would be my nightmare. I see that OP mentioned about not having a second bed in the studio of DSV II, hence I believe OP is getting a 2BR unit. I always get DSVI (exchange) because we typically invite our friends to join us.

I have been trading into DSV's for over 20 years. Sometimes multiple stays. Both are nice and in different ways. Never had a noise problem and in all my visits, have never wanted to go to the JW pools.

It depends on the make up of your group as to which studio is the best.

While the DSVI 2BR arrangement may be more private for a couple of couples, the two beds in the studio really isn't ideal if a couple will be sleeping in there. Though the DSVI studio does have a larger fridge with an ice maker where the DSVII doesn't (or didn't on our last visit).

The main draw of DSVI isn't necessarily access to the pools at the JW Marriott but rather getting a day pass to the Spa at the JW. The spa also has its own adults only pool.

We have stayed at DSVII and used the regular pools over at the JW. The shuttle even took us there. This may not work during peak season as our visits are always off season. I don't think the gates at the JW are keyed, or if they were our keys worked to get us in to the pool area.

"DSV 1 is so much better..." No, I would disagree. It is a little larger but both are nice.
"Cramped DSV two bedrooms" - - no, I didn't find the bedrooms cramped. The 1 BR side is fine. The efficiency is...well, it IS an efficiency. Kind of like a hotel room with a balcony and nice furnishings.
"DSV is super noisy all day and all night" - - you can request particular buildings or can request that you aren't put next to Cook Street. I have never been forced to take a unit facing Cook Street or close to the JW in the last 15 years. If you are on the lanai, you will hear some traffic noise. But I'd never consider it SUPER noisy. But if you are inside with the lanai door closed, I have always found it fairly quiet. I think that there is more traffic on Cook during the day than there is at night, when traffic is very light. Palm Desert is kind of a quiet area in general.
"Is this all true"? No!! I think that you have used a bit of hyperbole.

Me? I own at DSV1, DSV2, and Shadow Ridge Enclaves. I always split them and re-trade them. Every year I retrade into either DSV1, DSV2 or SRE. I have some minor preferences but all of them are basically fungible (equivalent or interchangeable). That is, if I cannot get my desired check-in dates at one location, I'll happily take one of the other locations.
