Hi all. I wondered how the complimentary usage at the neighboring JW Marriott works for Canyon Villas guests. Is it an easy walk from Canyon Villas? Do they limit the number of Canyon Villas guests who can use the pool? Are there other amenities at the JW Marriott that Canyon Villas guest use?

Thanks for the information in advance.

I don't know how easy the walk is, but they have a shuttle that runs between the timeshare and hotel. They don't limit the number of guests per say, but they do have certain dates where they restrict usage of the hotel amenities to only hotel guests. Canyon Villas guests thus can't use the pools during those dates (think peak season dates, certain weekends and holidays).

We stayed there about 5 years ago. The shuttle went back and forth; my kids were bigger and walking was OK, not terrible. The pool and facilities at the JW were much more interesting than at MCV - I think we spent nearly all of our pool time at the JW.

The shuttle runs from CV over to the JW on the hour and on the half hour. The walk from CV over to the JW is about 15 min. There are certain dates that are restricted. Most of March, I believe. There may be other dates that are National holidays or event dates where they restrict.

I was surprised at how long the walk was. At least a half mile. The shuttle times weren't convenient when we were there, (only 4 times per day in January 2022), so we only went over once. It was gorgeous, and I hope to go back and actually enjoy the pools.

We staycation here quite frequently in the summer. Even in 110 degree heat we walk over to the JW if the shuttle times are not convenient. Pre-pandemic is was a very convenient every hour thing. Now, not so much. A few times a day. If you cut through the parking lot and then through the convention center, the walk is not that bad. About 10 minutes in the heat and then 5 minutes in air conditioning. Do check about the blackout dates as they definitely enforce that. We have found one way around it was to reserve and pay for multiple daybeds, a cabana or the very expensive lazy river suites . They have allowed us in if we have done that even if staying at Canyon Villas. I can't guarantee that, but we have done it.

We own EOY at MCV and have been going there for several years, primarily in Spring. We've always walked to the JW, but we enjoy walking and aren't carrying a lot of stuff. Th JW changed ownership a few years ago and the new owners are impacting the quality of the experience for MCV guests. There are more frequent blackout dates, large sections around the pools and lazy river are now 'premium', and Roy's no longer allows guests to sit outside during happy hour. If I were a resort guest, I would be very unhappy to have to pay $50+ just to get a lounge chair at the adult pool in addition to already paying an exhorbitant resort fee. You now have to get there very early in the morning to find 'complimentary' lounge seating, and the premium areas keep expanding. We will likely try Westin properties in the area in the future, but we prefer the MCV location.
