I wanted to get some opinions on the best views at the Marriott Canyon Villas. My wife and I are heading there 9/24-9/29 in a 1B using DCP. The Marriott Vacation Team is requesting our preferences for our arrival. Thanks

Marriott doesn't have specific views for Canyon Villas although no doubt there are units which look on to a golf course while others may look on to a car park. My suggestion would be to call the resort directly (877-226-9663) and ask the front desk what they recommend. They will be in the best position to advise you if there is a building or floor that's best to have.

Check out the resort map on the Marriott site. There are not a lot of parking lot views at this resort. Although you might get a partial parking lot in your view if you are at the far west end of the buildings. Most of the parking is in between the buildings, outside your front door while the patios and decks face “green space” in the various courtyards between buildings.

2700 and 2800 have pool views and therefore may be a bit louder.

We usually request 3000 or 3100 towards the west end because it looks out onto a quieter courtyard area. There is a children’s playground area at the east end between these buildings, but it’s not generally very loud. 3200 and 3300 look out onto the Lizard Lagoon which is a kiddie pool and splash pad which may or may not appeal to you.

2400 and 2600 also look out onto large courtyard/patio area with shade sails. This might be a somewhat louder area because they have some activities here – shuffle board and bags and places for people congregate in the evening hours. It’s a very nice place to sit and enjoy the shade if you need to. I think we would pick here if we couldn’t get 3000 or 3100.

2300 looks out onto the quiet pool but you may see construction fencing across the courtyard for the yet to be completed 2100 building.

I would avoid 2900 as the patios and decks would look out onto the main access road and the club house although there is some vegetation between you and the road .

Golf course views would be on the east ends of all the buildings. There is a gravel service/maintenance road that runs east of the buildings. I would request second or third floor to take the access road out of your view and to better see the golf course.

The resort pool is very nice and you also have the option of going across the road to the JW pool and lazy river.

We love this resort and it is our home resort. We go about every other year and trade to other Marriotts the other years.

I generally agree with Horsemen's suggestions. We like third floor units that face the JW Marriott, with mountains in the background. My ranking would be Bldgs. 2600, 2400, 2300 and 2700 (again, only in units facing the JW). The one downside to these units is that they are adjacent to the golf course. There is some early morning noise as the workers prepare the greens at the crack of dawn.

We own two weeks at Canyon Villas and just love the place. I hope you have a great time. If you have additional questions, send me a PM.

I learn something every day

My wife and I are in a 1B

I was unaware that NCV had 1 BR units. I thought that all were 2 BR. Guess that I learn something new every day.

NCV is Newport Coast Villas in Newport Beach CA & is all 2 bedroom units. Canyon Villas is an entirely different resort.

We stayed on a high floor overlooking the golf course, with the mountains and JW in the background. Very nice and private. Other than side trips to the Canyon, Sedona, Phoenix, and Scottsdale, we spent our time at the JW. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and made up for all the green we missed out West. The restaurants there were outstanding. The friends we brought with us ended up going back the following year. Have a great time!

Oops! I am embarrassed

Oops. I am so embarrassed. My mistake.

NCV is Newport Coast Villas and are all 2 br units;
MCV is Marriott Canyon Villas in Phoenix and has studios, 1 br and 2 br units.

I thought the1 Br and studios were from the 2 Br lockoffs. I could not find a dedicated one Br or studio for sale.

Forget what building I was in but it was on the 2nd floor facing the golf course and most of the view was blocked by landscaping trees so you definitely want an upper floor for views.
