Marriot Grand Chateau 2 Bedroom Lock-off
Hello Tuggers! I finally closed on my MGC 2 bedroom lock-off and have already traded it in for a 2 bedroom at Shadow Ridge for Spring Break 2025 and a 1 bedroom Marriott Maui Ocean club 1 bedroom for a late September guys trip. Im pretty stocked with those options for our first trades :)

I realized that neither were showing up as stays in my Marriott Bonvoy account. That led me to looking at my account at the MVC ownership site and see that my Bonvoy info is missing. It was included in the paperwork so this is annoying. I have a few questions.

1) To get this rectified, I guess I need to call Marriot Vacation Club customer support?
2) If it were on my account when I traded, would those 2 different stays show up in my Marriott Bonvoy trips section?
3) Do we get elite night credits toward status when staying in exchanges?
4) Are we able to apply suite night upgrade requests to MVC exchanges?

Thanks for the help!

Congratulations great trades.

1) Call to see if you can get this done.
2) Possibly as long as the names match exactly and the moon is in the correct orbit. It can be a bit hit and miss. If you have joint ownership, check the account of the co-owner as the primary is often what is used for Bonvoy linkage. it can be a bit hit and miss.
3) Yes, if you make sure that your Bonvoy number is on the folio at check-out, make sure you get a folio before you leave. It can be hit and miss.
4) No, different systems and no "perks" for MVC stays other than the bonus points and points for any eligible spend you make on resort.

Enjoy!

Exchanges never show up in the Bonvoy account unless I pull them in using the name and reservation number (MVC not II). As noted, names have to match completely. II does not supply the Bonvoy info to the resorts even if they have it. I always try to pull in the exchange to our Bonvoy Account AND make sure they have the info on the reservations at the resort. I check with with the contact with the resort a few weeks out and again at check in.

As Dean mentioned exchanges do not show up in your Bonvoy account automatically. But you just use the reservation look-up function online and manually add your Bonvoy number to them- easy. I have never not gotten credit for an exchange stay simply by adding the number myself online.

Will MVC add a Bonvoy number to a resale only MVC account? If so, this would allow for your initial MVC reservations to show on Marriott.com but as others noted the II exchanges won't show there unless you add them.

Yes- I only own resale weeks and any home resort reservation I make shows up in my Bonvoy account automatically.

Is there a field in your II account for the Bonvoy number?
No. You have to manually added exchanges to your Bonvoy account using the confirmation number. Only home resort stays are added automatically.

Then is seems everything is working as it should.

Except the OP said the Bonvoy # was not in their MVC account which is not as expected. This could be easily corrected by communicating with MVC as long as the names match up.

I saw that, but that doens't make sense as they said their initial reservations showed up on Marriott.com.

In reviewing above I'm missing it if they said that. What I did see was it was included on their initial paperwork which I assumed was the MVC transfer information.

Sorry, it was someone else that indicated their Bonvoy number was in their MVC account, not the OP. I don't think it matters if you include the Bonvoy number in in itial paperwork. MVC won't add it. I asked a while back if MVC will add it to a resale only (post June 2010) account. I know back when we first bought, the presence of the Marriott Rewards number seemed to indicate that you could also convert to Marriott Reward points which wasn't possible with resale purchases.

I contacted MVC and they said they added it to my account and it will take up to 24 hours to show up. I will follow up tomorrow to see if that happened. I also was able to find my stays and add them to my Marriott Bonvoy account. Thanks everyone!

Having your Bonvoy number on you MVC account will help to have your home resort reservations show up on Marriott.com. It won't change the fact that you still need to manually add II exchanges.
