We just checked in here for 1 night
after a 3 day exchange at the Hyatt Windward. This is a beautiful new resort, all lock-offs.
I saw a small sign saying it was a Marriott Residence Club. Is it a fractional or part of the the new points system? I would ask but I'm only here 1 day and I don't want a sales presentation.

As far as I know, the Marriott Beachside Resort in Key West is not affiliated in any way with Marriott Vacation Club or the Destination Points program. Although I think that some of the units are owned as condos or timeshares, this property is classified as a Marriott resort. DC points or Interval exchanges into this property are not available at this time, but you can use Marriott Rewards points for stays.

I agree it is a beautiful resort and the 1-2 BR units are nicer than many MVC resorts.

How was Windward Point?

Have you look at Hyatt Sunset Harbor?

How do they compare?

Windward point was okay - nice rooms, nice pool, noisy. We walked there from the airport. It's right on the runway. Worst part is you're paying $20 cab fare each way to get to town.I own at Sunset Harbor - bought resale in July and it had a few points expiring next month so I booked 3 nights at Hyatt Windward because I couldn't get into Sunset Harbor. Sunset Harbor is a great location - right on the boardwalk on the Harbor and a few feet to Mallory Sq. We haven't stayed there yet. My week is April 1 so I'll check back then. Marriott Beachside is beautiful, prettier location and a free shuttle to and from Old Town. I haven't tried it, but Hyatt Beachside is right next door to Marriott and has the same pretty location. I see nothing to stop anyone from staying at the Hyatt and hopping on the Marriott shuttle.

I agree that it's not a part of MVCI but the property appears to have been built as a timeshare, it just was never converted over to one. Marriott took over in 2009 and categorizes it as a resort hotel.

The one bedroom unit that I stayed in was excellent and I may even venture to say - elegant.

When we were there last year, they were trying to sell them as residences. I booked a hotel room using Marriott points (not vacation club points) and then got upgraded to a one bedroom that looked like an apartment. They provided a shuttle to downtown. No way could we have walked every day!
