Hi Myhusband and I are at the Sheraton in Kauai. We just went through the 90 minute talk and did not purchase. We are interested in purchasing at resale 4000 points. Is somewhere between $6.50-$7 dollars per point, inclusive of all fees, a fair price? What are the most trusted sites to purchase through (besides TUG )? Does the home resort location, unit location, time of year matter? Does resale purchase include interval international (the exchange system)? At the 4000 point level would we still get Bonvoy Platinum elite for life? Thanks in advance for your thoughts. ️

I can answer the last two questions. You would get an interval International account for free and you would be eligible for Bonvoy Platinum with Select owner benefit level. It wouldn't be for life. It is only for as long as you own enough points to qualify.

That makes sense. Thank you

Your price expectation could be a bit low, depending on what MVC are currently exercising ROFR at.
You can get some indication of the price of the points to pass ROFR at ROFR.net, but it is not a science. You can bid at the price you want and see if it gets through, expect to have to do this several times until you get what you want.
Hopefully you know this already: MVC charges a $3/point (min $3k) initiation fee for the points to be fully useable in Abound with status.
Yes check the usage year of any points you buy as it can vary. If you have existing ownership then it is helpful for all the usage years to line up.
There is also the option of buying an MVC week outside of the US from MVC, which will come enrolled with points. There have been reports of weeks in Spain that might give you the points you need, but at a lower equivalent maint fee.
Resale Vistana and retroing it in with a small purchase can also work well if you already have VSN ownership.
There is no such thing as a home resort with MVC Club points.
Was there a specific reason you believe buying club points will work for you?

Thank you for the feedback. Good point about usage year. I would like every year usable points. It seems that 4,000 points, is enough to reserve at most of the decent locations.
Cost of $6.50 - $7 per point is….
4000 points @ 2.5 = $10k & @ 3 = 12k
Plus MVC fee 4000 @ $3/ point = 12k
Plus purchase/closing fees est $800 - $1200
Total cost range is $22,800 - $25,200
If this is low, what is realistic? Thanks

Isn't it 7000 points to qualify for Executive?

They would be at Select which would also give them Platinum.

If you look at rofr.net you will see the prices that are reported as passing the MVC Right of first refusal. The $3/club point selling price looks like it might fail ROFR and MVC will intervene in the purchase. There is no way to know for sure how it will go, so you might try a number of times before you get something at a price that you accept.
rofr.net is self reporting information so useful but not a list of all transactions that go on.
If you are looking to spend the kind of money you are, it is worth also pricing up an MVC enrolled week purchase at one of the non-US resorts both in terms of the purchase price and the ongoing maintenance fee liability. Exchange rates might work in your favour for the purchase price at the moment. Search TUG for posts about potential options in Spain.
