If I own a platinum week at Marriott Grande Vista and a gold week at Marriott Grande Ocean, can I book a MGO week 13 months ahead? I know you can book 13 months ahead if you own 2 weeks at the same resort, but I am not sure if I own at 2 different Marriott resorts if I can book 13 months ahead. I asked a Marriott rep, and she said yes, but I cannot book consecutive weeks. Not sure if this sounds correct.

As far as I know you have to own the 2 weeks in the same season regardless of the property to reserve 13 months in advance. Verify with someone at Marriott when you call to make the reservation. Better to do it on the phone than online.

You have to book consecutively or concurrently. Where doesn't matter. Your 2 seasons would need to overlap somewhere so you could book them consecutively or concurrently.

For some weeks yes, just look at the calendar for each to see when you can book concurrently or consecutively. You could book week 12 at GV and 13 at GO, 13-17 at the same time & 17 at GV with 18 at GO. You could also book 34 at GV & 35 at GO. You'd have to pay attention to the standard timeshare calendar some years due to the week 53 issue adjusting the calendar. I doubt it'll matter for those weeks though, you should be able to get them at 12 months out fairly easily.

They don't have to be the same season but they do have to be bookable at the same or a consecutive time.

The 13-mos Reservation Window for Weeks can be used to book multiple consecutive/concurrent weeks at the same resort OR at different resorts, providing the Seasons of the Weeks you own line up as consecutive/concurrent weeks on the calendar (and of course, as long as there's availability.)

Grande Vista Resort Calendar - Plat Season is weeks 1-17, 22-34, 51 and 52
Grande Ocean Resort Calendar - Gold Season is weeks 13-23, 35-43

So yes, between the two resorts this OP owns, calendar weeks 13-17 and 22-23 overlap, so as long as there's availability then combinations of those concurrent/consecutive overlapping calendar weeks could be booked at the 13-mos window.

A couple notes:

- The 13-mos window can only be used if you're booking multiple owned Weeks during the same call. No matter how many Weeks are owned, single Weeks OR lock-off components of a Single Week cannot be booked using the 13-mos window.

- Instantaneous Weeks bookings using the 13-mos window can only be done by phone; there's an online request form but those requests aren't handled until the phone lines on the Release Day are emptied. Don't rely on the online request form if you're looking for high-demand intervals.

- Every resort has its own seasonal calendar and the Release Days are dependent on the resort(s) being booked. To find the 12- and 13-mos Release Days for the Weeks you own and are trying to book, sign in to your owners.marriottvacationclub.com account --> click on "Helpful Tools" in the dropdown menu under "EDUCATION & RESOURCES" --> click on "Using My Week" in the "When Can I Reserve?" box --> follow the prompts for the particular resort and check-in day of the first day of your desired stay(s). Weeks inventory is released at 9AM EST - be on the phone at that time if what you want is high-demand.

If booking consecutive weeks at different properties, can I call in the first week the week opens up? So in the example above, can I call in and request GV week 12 and GO week 13 on the first date that GV 13 month mark opens up? Or do I need to wait until GO week opens for 13 month mark booking?

Curious because if the former is true, GO owners would need to wait another week if they are trying to book concurrent dates at the 13 month mark.

Thanks,
Ryan

You could call when the 13 month inventory opens for your first week. You'd be reserving GO before the 13 month window.

Sue: I'd like to clarify the statement you made quoted above. Do I understand your statement to mean that although I thought I made a reservation online, it's only a request?!

I own a week at MOC and at DSV1. The Release Date for DSV1 is tomorrow March 10, 2021 for 12 month reservations (I called 13 months out but no availability, so trying now for the 50% remaining inventory). I was checking the MVCI website and found that I could make a reservation today at DSV1 by indicating it was a concurrent/consecutive reservation. So I booked DSV1 for March 13, 2022. I thought it was a reservation but the confirmation email I got back from Marriott said an Associate would get back to me "to verify your request". So am I screwed per your explanation above? It's the worst of all worlds because now I can't go online at 6 am tomorrow and book the reservation myself?!

In the meantime, I booked the MOC unit for March 6, 2002, which would be consecutive to the DSV1 3/13/22 reservation. For that I got a bonafide confirmation, perhaps because I didn't use the dropdown menu choice for "concurrent/consecutive".

Is there any way to salvage this situation? I tried calling Owner Services but they're still on Covid hours, so gone already.

Minus the typical confirmation notice with a reservation number for the interval you requested, I think you're correct that you used the request form and it hasn't been processed yet. You might be surprised and it gets processed overnight but I don't know what the chances are. If it doesn't, I'd be trying both the telephone and online systems to get it first thing in the morning at 9AM eastern, because I don't know either if putting in the request automatically puts a hold on your Week. Online is quicker so if there is no hold and the interval is available you'll probably get it sooner than a telephone rep but I'd be doing both at the same time just in case. If it's not available online then you can stay on the phone line and explain what happened when you get through to a rep - no guarantee that they'll be able to help but it won't hurt to try.

Good luck!

Thank you, Susan! You are a life saver (or a least a reservation saver). I called owner services at 9 am EST and spoke to an agent who confirmed my reservation. She confirmed what you said above: 13 week concurrent/consecutive reservations should be made on the phone. Despite the existence on the MVCI website of an option to book a concurrent/consecutive reservation, it will only function as a request and lose out to people calling in the morning of a high demand week. Thanks for all you do for this website and its readers.
