Location
Florida
$55/night parking is the only deterrent.

The property has a virtually unparalleled location of all resorts in the Wyndham system. The $55/night parking is a typical urban fee, however, many great attractions and restaurants are within walking distance. The Georgia Tech campus is within a mile and as are both The Mercedes Benz Stadium and The State Farm Arena--unequaled in our system. Where else in the Wyndham system can you stay to be only walking distance to attend The Super Bowl or College Football Championship series games?

New Orleans, for one.

This is an outstanding location and resort for Wyndham .
A guarantee parking space in Atlanta for only $55, that is a bargain. LOL

My son stayed at MVC Atlanta last August with a few of his friends - we had the points to burn coming out of the pandemic so we booked a three bedroom MVC PR unit for them. Here are some pics of the three bedroom PR unit up on one of the top floors.

Looks like a fantastic location to me! Definitely on my future list of places to visit!

Thinking about a stay in ATL.
Are the Margaretiville units worth extra points required?

That's a great question and I don't have a ready answer myself. I'd imagine the MVC units have the "island" type decor like in the pictures I've already shared above. I'm not sure if the CWS units have different decor? Perhaps someone who has stayed in the non-MVC units can compare/contrast based upon the pics shared in this thread. The one review posted doesn't have any pics of the room - so no direct comparisons can be made - and the unit was actually booked through RCI from the looks of it - so the owner wasn't really all that familiar with Wyndham ownerships most likely. Apart from any possible differences with decor - generally I'd surmise the MVC units are higher up in the building and offer better views - but that's just speculation on my part to be clear - so if this is the case - then the extra points may be worthwhile if better views are important for the owner in question.

I spend 10 days around Christmas every other year, plus at minimum another week each year at either Old Town Alexandria or National Harbor because my In-Laws live in the DC Metro area. They recently announced that they are looking to move to a warmer area, they are in their 80's. Two of the places they have looked are the North Georgia area around Gainesville or Dahlonega and in Central Tennessee, kind if equidistant inbetween The Glade and the Sevierville resorts.

If they relocated to Georgia, the closest Wyndham would be the Atlanta one. I looked into it and BOY HOWDY... those points values. We would need at LEAST a 2 BR, but likely a 3BR because in addition to my family, her sister who also lives in the DC/Baltimore area would be tagging along for at least part of the time...

I also looked and there's several RCI aligned resorts in the area, and when I looked, they all had availability week 51 and 52. They would actually be closer to where her folks lived than downtown Atlanta. Plus cheaper pointswise and no parking fees. But my wife has really gotten spoiled with Wyndham... you know how it is.

I kind of wish they choose Tennessee because I can ALWAYS get into The Glade, and can get VIP upgrades pretty much any time, much cheaper points, free parking, etc

Not necessarily. There are plenty downtown, midtown, and Buckhead that cover your parking fee when you stay there so this is outrageous for ATL. We just stayed about a month ago at Loews in Midtown with free parking. They give you a garage card key to use.

What was the nightly rate? There is free and there is “free.”
For that stay, they actually paid us to stay there since we used the Amex Platinum FHR credit and the room was about the same as the $200 credit but we also received a room upgrade, $100 hotel credit, free wifi, and free breakfast.

Hmm. I might need to find a reason to go to ATL. I never manage to use the FHR credit. Usually when I look at them the rates are always high enough that it still isn't a good deal.

We were just using our 2022 one, since we had it, which is nice since you can make the reservation in 2022 for a stay in 2023 and it counted for our 2022 year. We choose Loews because it was the cheapest in ATL. For 2023, we are going to the Ed Sheeran concert at Mercedes Benz so we used our Aspire free night at the Waldorf and then the next night the FHR credit. We will end up paying some for the FHR but for a weekend at the Waldorf it is pretty cheap....

Does the Loews hotel own the parking garage in question? Typically if the hotel doesn’t own the garage parking it’s not free - or it’s inbuilt to the hotel daily rate. Some of the Wyndham resorts in urban areas offer limited free parking - like OTA for example. It varies IME.

No, it is a public shared garage with the stores around that area so you just get the key card to drive in and out. When you leave at the end, there is a little drop box after you open the gate.

Actually, I just went to the website and it is $36/night self parking but we didn't get charged so either it was covered as part of the hotel credit or something else.

Either it’s inclusive of the hotel charges or it’s an incidentals type charge that will appear on your credit card after checkout.
