Marbrisa Carlsbad

Can anyone who has stayed at the Marbrisa please tell me what kind of experience they had at this location. It posts like it is on the ocean as it states 7 miles of beach, however the map shows otherwise. We are headed there this weekend. Not sure what to expect.

Not on the ocean. East side of Interstate 5.
 
Marbrisa is not on the ocean. It is about a mile or two away and the ocean view rooms have just a distant view.

That said, Carlsbad has some very nice beaches (7 miles of beaches as they say). While you have to drive to get to the beach it is a short drive.

Marbrisa is still only partially built. There is no real lobby (it is a converted timeshare condo) and the pool is nothing to get excited about (the "real" resort pool is yet to be built). IMHO the personnel have only been courteous and eager to please.

Overall, Carlsbad is a great place with many things to do. Marbrisa still feels relatively new and the employees want you to have a good time.

We could not have had a better time at Marbrisa. Staff was very helpful and there were numerous activities for the kids with wonderful supervision. Our room looked right at the Dragon rollercoaster, so the kids got a kick from seeing it from the balcony, and we could walk to the back entrance of Legoland.

Cannot wait to return, as there were also plenty of fine restaurants nearby.

The lobby is simply one of the condos that has had a makeover to serve as the lobby.
 
Phase one of the resort was built by Grand Pacific Resorts and it currently has a small lobby that other wise would be a unit. The economy tanked and building of the other phases stalled. Then in came HGVC, money and affiliation, and now the next phase of the resort is being built which includes a "real" lobby, super pool and more units. These new units are being sold as HGVC units. It should be an even better resort when these builds are complete.

It will be a true HGVC vs the GPR that it seems like it is now. I was told it will have several super pools, a full spa and dining.
 
Will the GPR owners have to look through he knotholes in the fence once all of this is built ?

Marbrissa and Palisades are close to each other but not next to each other. Build up of Marbrisa will not affect any views etc of Palisades owners (GPR).

Marbrissa is wonderful resort. I go to a resort for pools, views, luxurious interiors, quality of staff, and stuff to do in the vicinity and not necessarily the size of the lobby (since I try not spend time in the lobby). Based on these requirements, Marbrissa is amazing. Once the super pool etc is done within next 6-8 months or so, this will be number 1 timeshare resort in Coastal Southern California. This is not a converted timeshare, but a resort built from scratch in stages.
 
We are looking forward to the expanded resort and more inventory is always good.
 
We will be there in two weeks , so I am excited to read this. I have not called and tried to ask for a room yet. We have a 3 BR reserved, no kids going.. Thanks.
 
I agree with the above comments. Great resort, nice staff. We have a three BR unit on the top floor wit some ocean views. Love that. We have been to the 20 20 bar and the Canyons at the golf course. Marbrisa Village is great for walking around.
