Sue, if you do a TUG search for "Hilton Head google map", you should get a hit for a June, 2008 thread titled "Need Marriott resort advice for Hilton Head." There's a whole lot of info in that thread; post #30 from "jme" has an excellent link for an interactive aerial view of the island.
