Does anybody know if there are rules to how much your resort can raise your maintenance fees each year? It's my understanding your resort cannot raise your maintenance fee by more then 8% from the previous year.
There might be internal bylaws and / or CC&R content addressing this matter at specific, individual timeshare facilities (...none that I am personally aware of, however), but it's certainly not otherwise a "universal" matter of
law, if that is what you are asking.
Special assessments, for example, are generally
much more than 8% above maintenance fee amount. Of those unwelcome few "special assessments" that I've experienced personally, those special assessments have been in the neighborhood of 50 - 90% of the annual maintenance fee amount when imposed --- a cost
separate and apart from the annual maintenance fee which
still had to be paid for that particular year.
P.S. You've posted the exact same question twice, thereby creating two separate threads for the exact same question. Hopefully a moderator will see this and "merge" the duplicate posts (and their separate replies) into a single thread.
