I lucked out and got a very high value II trade for a great week. I’m not mentioning the details as don’t want to get on the wrong side of any rules.

Only thing is that I cannot make the date selected. I’m sure i’d not be this lucky again, so wanted thoughts on options. Is it ‘proper’ to swap this week with someone else? It’s perhaps as simple as posting on the exchanges here, but not done that before. I know cash transfers are against II rules, so didn’t want to post under the ‘pay me to have my week’ category.

Thanks all for your advice.

If it's an Interval exchange then you can purchase E-Plus and get up to 3 additional exchanges without losing your original trading power....

.

Thanks. I think my trade was waaaay up from what I’d ever get, so don’t want to e-plus. Other options? Like how and where would I post for a person to person trade?

You can retrade the week for a full retrade fee.

60 days before check-in, you can post it in the Sightings & Distressed forum as a distressed week. Be sure you read the rules at the top of the forum for distressed posts - they are very specific. However, reservation trades are very difficult, and you may end up with nothing.

No, II have that avenue covered via the terms and conditions you have agreed to when using your account, "exchanging" is specifically prohibited, see below. You have options that don't break the rules so use those and hope that you get another great trade.

one person says "swap". the other says "exchanging", then shows the words "noncommercial" & "For sale or rent".
Isn't this what "Direct Exchange" is about? I don't have II, but it doesn't seem to me that a "swap" violates that #16 as far as it is shown

When you receive an item of value (in this case a week's stay in another resort) as compensation (call it exchange or swap) for giving up your week, then you will be in violation of II rules.
Does that mean that people don't do it? The answer is obvious.
Renting simply means your item of value is hard cash.

I think a "Direct Exchange" is when someone exchanges their HOME unit for someone else's HOME unit; not an exchange for a RCI or II confirmed unit. The benefit of a direct exchange is that you save on II/RCI membership fees, exchange fees, upgrade fees, etc.
