Loving beach at Peninsula in South Padre Island

We are here at the Peninsula Island Resort & Spa on South Padre Island near Brownsville, TX for two weeks on a II Getaway. We have stayed here before (rented from the resort - higher price than the Getaway) and fell in love with the beach/water/low key area in off season.

Today is the most perfect day to be here at the beach - temperature low 90's with water temperature 85 and the ocean is sooo calm. It couldn't be more beautiful.

Those who ask if it is worth it to travel from San Antonio to go to the beach - It is if you come here.

We found this area a good location to drive to for the warm ocean water we love. Sure Aruba and Hawaii are nice but pricey compared to here.
 
We're going for a week in Dec to SPI. Got any suggestions for things to do, tours to take, places to eat??
