Where would you go to get a realistic scoop on international travel safety. In light of the horrible attack in Paris recently, we can't be too careful. The growth and barbarism of ISIS and other terrorists is alarming to say the least and their footprint is growing at a disturbing rate. If you were in southern Spain, would you be willing to do a tour to parts of Morocco for the day?

I'd look at State Dept waranings, then probably temper them a bit. No where is totally safe today. Even your home neighborhood. When you travel, be aware of your surroundings. Don't wear expensive clothing/jewelry. Only carry as much cash as you need, and not in a back pocket wallet. If you are in a large group of people in a steaming hot market, and someone comes in wearing a parka, leave. Quickly.

I have traveled all over Morocco, without incident. I would go back without hesitation. Rather be there than many N. American cities.

While I can't comment on current safety, 3 years ago my daughter's high school trip was in Spain and they did a day trip to Morocco. It was the highlight of the trip and she would love to go back

Wait - you are from the Bronx, you drive on the LIE and you are worried about a day trip to Morocco? Just kidding but this is the discussion I have with my wife all the time.

She was worried taking the babies to Mexico for the first time. I pointed out that neighborhoods we have lived near (in NYC and San Fran) had far higher crime rates than either Cancun or Nuevo Vallarta.

Driving to the airport is statistically speaking likely to be the highest risk part of your trip. Forget the headlines - the odds are greater that you will win Powerball than be involved in a terrorist incident.

My wife and I have traveled all over the world. Some of them pretty bad places. If you are smart - don't drink, walk back to the hotel alone, in a bad neighborhood, wearing a rolex - you should be just fine.

I wouldn't hesitate taking our little ones to Morocco.

I would travel to Paris and London in a heart beat. No problems at all.

I remember reading the state department warnings about Mexico City, they could have been talking about any major urban area in the US.

I agree. One issue, however, if that in your own city, you usually know what neighborhoods to avoid, whereas abroad you may not necessarily know that.
