After years with Comcast, I'm looking for a new provider. I use the intenet a lot so need fast, reliable, and a good value. Looking for your suggestions & experience. TIA

Here's a recent thread re dial-up services, which includes several links to sites devoted to finding and rating dial-up providers:

But coming from a Comcast account, I assume that you have become used to broadband cable speeds. It might be difficult to return to dialup speeds.

You might want to look into who provides DSL service over the phone lines in your area. Note that this does require the cooperation of your local phone provider, so you may only have the option of the DSL service provided by your local phone company.

Here's a link that purports to find DSL service in your Sacramento area after you fill out the form:

Does your local cable company provide RoadRunner? We have had excellent service.

I had cable modem via Oceanic Time Warner, the local cable company here, and I switched back to high speed DSL from the local phone company for about $30 per month. See what your local phone company offers for high speed DSL. There might be other options if you have fiber in your neighborhood.

There are other ways to go, for example, using a 3rd party for DSL, but they are usually more expensive, but you can look into Earthlink, etc.

Marty .. Roadrunner is Time Warner's ISP but they advertise it as TW's cable modem service. The OP has Comcast.

You can use this link to find many of your providers by zip code. It'll include direct DSL, 3rd party DSL, etc. There are ratings as well.

I was suggesting RR because we have the option of it or Cox net for cable. I thought he might have had other cable options.

DSL Extreme!

I hear a lot of advertising on the radio for DSL Extreme in our area but I have never used them. I don't know if they are in your area or not? I hear them often say that the monthly rates are very low.
