I was looking to rent a few nights at Lehigh Acres Resort Club
And saw this on the website
https://www.lehigh resorts.com/#:~:text=After%20careful%20and,00%20AM%20EST.
If this does not open what it says the HOA is asking owners to repurpose their timeshare weeks. At least 2 buildings there.
I don’t own here just a heads up to those who do.
Supposed to have a zoom meeting on Thursday.
It’s a nice resort, stayed there a few times. Just outside of Fort Myers,

You've got a gap in the URL. It is:

It would be interesting to know what they mean by "repurposing". Does that mean the owners whose units are "repurposed" may soon be getting megabucks? :)

Interestingly, one of the main things I remember about that resort was that it was near an area that was the home to a cult that believed in celibacy. Hence (and not surprisingly), ultimately all its members died off. I hope they achieved the "after death" immortality that they believed celibacy would achieve.

As for the resort, it's a good ways inland. Hence, it is (or was) "always" a Last Call type of resort.

Not really near Koreshan State Park, 26 miles,
We stayed at Lehigh about six weeks when purchasing our home, which is one mile from Koreshan. Terribly long drive when I75 was backed up, which seemed like all the time.

Without active sales occurring they will have to continue repurposing over time. I am sure that Florida taking a huge haircut to Canadian tourims does not help Lehigh nor does its secondary or probably tertiary locaiton.

The location isn’t the greatest, first impression makes you want to turn around and leave. But the resort is/was pretty nice. And we enjoyed the golf course too.

What is your belief or understanding of what “repurposing” might actually mean or involve in a situation like this?

I am not in any way "challenging" your input. It just seems (to me, anyhow) that the word “repurposing” says nothing at all of any real substance. Further, I'd be inclined to believe that underlying condo documents at an independent timeshare property like Lehigh Resort would both define and limit exactly what sort of “repurposing” could even be considered or initiated in the first place without owner involvement (i.e., vote with majority approval), no? :ponder:

Owners are voting soon on the repurposing of building 1 & 2 to become full time ownership. Owners deeded in these buildings will be asked to re-deed into one of the remaining 8 buildings. The purpose is to reduce the maintenance fee load on remaining owners. I own 9 weeks but none in the affected buildings. Yes. I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of road bumps involved in accomplishing this. My feeling is that if successful this will only prolong the loss of willing owners. Each time they raise the maintenance fees more owners walk away. I think critical mass has been reached.

Thanks Kozman for these previously absent details; much appreciated.

To me it means trying to right size the resort to fit the number of paying members. I could see them moving memberships from buildings x,y and z into buildings ABC and then using buildings X, Y, and Z for long term rentals or condos. That is a scenario that is happening quite a bit. For existing owners it minimizes the amount of unsold weeks that the members are paying dues on and could help raise cash to fund reserves etc.
