Morven Park Mansion is on the National Register of
Historic Places and is a Virginia Historic Landmark
The Estate, 1,000 acres just west of Leesburg, Virginia
off Rt. 7 on Old Waterford Rd, was home to two governors:
Thomas Swann, a governor of Maryland in the 19th century,
and Virginia's reform Governor Westmoreland Davis.
Virginia Civil War Trails Markers at Morven Park
The marker, one in a series of three, commemorates
the role of the plantation in the early months of the war,
when it was home to Confederate troops of the
17th Mississippi Regiment in the winter of 1861/62.
