I traded into Lawai with a Shearwater exchange thru RCI December 6th-13th 2 bedroom and wondering what the best ocean view buildings are with a washer and dryer? We're looking for a top floor unit. Since we gave up Shearwater, I'm hoping we won't be disappointed.

Banyan or Ali's Buildings give you the best chance at an ocean view. Exchangers are often but not always put in the Coral Bldg.

As exchangers we were put into the ground floor of the banyan--no view. One bedroom faced the parking lot and there was considerable noise from people coming and going to their cars. You might be disappointed with giving up shearwater for lawai although the snorkel beach across the street is nice.

This was my experience as well.
It was a disappointment for sure.
Had to leave the room to know I was in Hawaii.

We exchanged thru II and were put into a 2BR on the 3rd floor of the Alii bldg.

Your best strategy is to request any floor in the Ali'i Bldg. Even the lower floors have ocean views. It is much quieter than the other 2 buildings.

I did send the above building requests to their reservation department and they asked which trading company I used and what number my confirmation number started with. Must make a difference.

Just watched sunset outside the LBR last night. (Staying at Point @Poipu, Sunrise yes, sunset no)
As mentioned, the ground floor of Banyon has the views obstructed by vegetation and other things.
The building wings are angled in toward the pool so not quite straight on ocean views.
Alii is straight on OV but it looks like the far-left rooms are behind the Liki Lanai building.

Coral building has a ground floor shared laundry room, no W/D in room. Not sure about the others.
Coral has the parking garage, quick access to the rooftop Viewpoint firepit/BBQ/Tennis/Mini-golf.
When we are there in Coral, the top 2 floors toward the left as you look at the building have a nice view.
The others have a pool view or just jungle and across the street to the Beach House restaurant.

Owners can request specific rooms and get their room assignment in advance, if they ask.
Each room has a fixed day for check-in. Thursday one room, Friday the next one, Saturday the room next door so your arrival date affects room assignment.
Not sure if the original room assignment that got deposited remains with the exchange-in room assignment.

It's certainly different than Shearwater in terms of ambiance, views and spaciousness of the rooms.
LBR might have the nod for location, especially in the winter.
Weather has been excellent this week, hope it lasts for you.
Our friends were here at Poipu 2 weeks ago and said it was cool and wet, locals say it's been rainy lately.

Go to the Kukuiula shopping center Wednesday 3-6 for Santa/ live music/farmers market

II has different codes for different buildings, so that may be what they were looking for. I don't think HTSE differentiates, and I don't know about RCI.

I called to request an Ocean view and 2 bath, because my II Certificate showed 1 bath. We got both on check in. We were there in mid October , which is a slower time of year.

Checked in Friday and they gave us Ali'i building 2nd floor end unit with lots of windows and very little noise. Unit configuration is a little strange. You walk into a small area in front of the kitchen which you think would be the dining room but the dining room table is on the other side of the kitchen. Great ocean views. Watching the surfers this morning and looking forward to snorkeling this afternoon.

We made an II exchange into LAW, one bedroom ,for 12/26 (Fri-Fri).

Our kids are super excited, but after reading this thread, I am nervous about room assignment.

Do the II exchanges have better placements?

Any tips on getting prebooked?
