Today I was trying to figure out the fabric care symbols on a recent clothing purchase. Here's a helpful chart if you are just as baffled as I am by the triangle with an X through it. :sneaky:

Yeah, it's always a bit of a mystery, isn't it? Thanks for the link.

Weren't many of these symbols first created in the 60s? They are a good way to date vintage clothing.

Equally baffling is trying to figure out the symbols on washers, dryers, etc. in other countries.
Our group of 10 hand washed our dishes during our stay in a Swiss chalet because none of us could decipher how to get the dishwasher started!

It's not just other countries. We were just in a timeshare on Marco Island w/ Samsung laundry machines, and it had a tray like this:

I had to do a Google search to figure out where to put the detergent. I have run into this a few times -- most brands, outside of the "traditional" US brands (Whirlpool, GE, Maytag, etc.) use these symbols.

Google is your friend in situations like that. We had a dishwasher and a combo washer/dryer in our unit in Italy last year; same situation -- lots of symbols, no text.

Is there going to be a test on this?
If there is, it'd better be open book.
