Is there a washer and dryer on every floor, and if so, more than one set? Is detergent provided or do guests need to provide their own ? Were the washer dryers in heavy use when you were there?

My daughter and her friend will be staying at KBC after several nights on the Kalalau Trail and they will be greatly in need of clean clothes!

We stayed in the tower that you check in. In that tower we only found 1 room with washer and dryers, on about the 3rd floor, we were on the 6th floor. There were about 5 washers and dryers in the room. i believe their were 3 laundry rooms through out KBC. NEVER HAD TO WAIT TO USE A WASHER OR A DRYER. They charged about $1.50 a load (do not remember exactly). KBC was cashless, so we were referred us to the checkin of the hotel for the quarters. Laundry detergent was provided, if we needed more supplies just called down. We stayed at KBC about 60 days ago.

I posted about this somewhere else as well. We were on the 8th floor of the ocean view tower Kilohana recently. There was laundry on this floor - 1 washer and 1 dryer. Washer was $2 and dryer $1.25 I believe. They take quarters and they can get those in the main hotel Sonesta lobby. They have laundry supplies by machine for $1.25 I think. There was no one anywhere near the laundry when I was using it mid-day. There are also laundry rooms on 3 and 6 I was told but did not visit them. I suspect there are some in every building but don't know about any others than this one.

We are Vistana owners and I have a general question about laundry - this post surprised me in that I assumed all Marriott Vacation resorts had laundry in the villas. Is it not the norm to have washers and dryers in the units?

In the MVC resorts that were built as timeshares yes, but KBC is a hotel conversion.
These units also have limited kitchens- no ranges.

Also, unlike Vistana, Marriott studios lack in room laundry.

Only a few Marriott 1BR and larger villas lack in-room laundry. I can only think of Kauai Beach Club, the old section of Maui Ocean Club and Aruba Ocean Club. There may be a few in the mountains that also don't have in-room laundry.
