We could not use a Marriott week due to a last-minute working schedule conflict. Is it worthwhile to deposit the week with Interval 2-week before check-in or just post here for $800? Does anyone have experience with last minute deposit? How is the trading power for the week?

It depends on how flexible you are in your travel dates AND how persistent you're going to be in searching II, manually, online to find a replacement.

I had one about a year and a half ago that is going to expire early next year. I believe it is termed a "late deposit" by II. The penalty is that you may not make any II requests with the week and you can only search online within 60 days to try to use it. My experience is that the first 2 weeks of December is the easiest time to get just about anything so if you can travel then, start looking early October.

What is the latest date I can still deposit? 1 week before the check-in? 3 days? I day? Very limited trading power, I assume.

I believe it is 14 days before check in.
But you can find out for sure by checking the buyers guide under legal at the bottom of the page on II

59-14 days for flexchange which means manual trades 60 days or less before check in.
Trading power filters are lessened in flexchange and up size fees are waived.

If you can travel within 60 days and you are flexible on location it could be worthwhile to deposit.

You need to deposit at least 14 days out or II won't take the deposit.

Deposits must be received by II at least 60 days, but no more than 24 months, before the commencement date of the deposited week or the expiration date of the points. Flex Deposits (received by II from 59 days up until 14 days before the commencement date of the week being deposited or the expiration date of the points) also are accepted, but any exchange request placed using a Flex Deposit must be made through the Flexchange service

Since we are talking II, is it worth the extra $$ for gold or platinum level? I have got some decent trades, Hilton Head and Welk Escondido with them For the full week. The Welk was a late deposit, 3 months out last year.

Only worth it if you use the benefits. You get no benefits for exchanges, other than a modest discount on unit size upgrade fees.
If you do 2-3 getaways per year or used 2-3 guest certs per year it can be worth it.

The discount for platinum is $40/step. So you can make-up the $139 membership with 4 upgrade steps. I have never booked a getaway or used a guest certificate but I always come out ahead on the platinum membership cost.

I have II platinum membership just to save on the size upgrade fees. My basic account and trades are free as they are paid for by the MVC club dues. I don't use guest certificates nor buy getaways.

I do the exact same thing. I have two traders that I lock off & usually get larger rooms for. Also, II sometimes has specials running for 50% off platinum. I just upgraded a trade from an effic to a 2 BR and paid $118 instead of $198 and the platinum membership was discounted 50% so I paid $69.50 so it more than paid for itself with one upgrade. It really makes sense if you are upgrading, buying getaways or using guest certificates.

I just wish we could take advantage of the 50% off Platinum upgrade. We trade so often that we can't let our Platinum expire for the four months necessary to be eligible for most of these discounts.

Yeah I’m in the same boat. I always have to pay the full price.

Don’t they make it retroactive to the date the platinum expired so you lose 4 months of use?

Perhaps during their Daily Deals they have going on right now they will offer a 10% off renewal. They have offered this in the past when they did the 50% or 2 for 1 upgrade deals. 10% isn't much, but any savings is nice.

I upgraded back to Platinum 4 months after expiration and it was not retroactive. I believe if you renew/upgrade within 4 months, it is retroactive.

I decided to deposit the week with Interval although I could try list on Redweek for around $3500 with uncertainty since it is a top Hilton Head resort for the 4th of July week.
