I booked this resort for 7 nights in mid march for my husband and I in a 1 BR unit. We are seniors (68 and 70). Unfortunately I was also recently diagnosed as likely RA with significant pain/swelling in my feet and ankles. I say likely because my RF is through the roof and my FP best guess but I can't get an appointment with a rheumagologist until late October, but I'm pretty sure because I had 2 immediate family members with the disease. When I got the diagnosis I said we should forget booking this vacation, but my husband said it might be the last one we take that I will be relatively mobile so lets do it and I agreed.

So we will need to be very low key for the trip and I plan to relax at the pool most days and hopefully see some of the the free performances at the hotels and enjoying some nice restaurants or buffet (wynn) and some shows. Thinking Cirque Ka at MGM and other shows possibly at Miracle Mile/Planet Hollywood. We saw O and Mystere 20 years agon and loved both, so definitely interested in their shows. I understand the strip is humoungous to walk and we are already planning to use Uber and Lyft to get around. We would like to do a Hoover Dam day trip one day.

Do any owners or frequend renter have advise for an itinerary that might have less walking involved / Would love to hear any advixe for how to manage this trip. Tel me anything you want. Thank you.

Best of luck to you. I took my mom to that property a few years back and her mobility was already limited. While the location is good and there is plenty "walkable" very nearby, it's still not short distances for those that may be in pain when walking. The one good thing is that the taxi availability at the property was fantastic and Las Vegas drivers expect short trips that are not super costly.

Just do a little research on where you want to be dropped off if going somewhere else. Some of the other properties are massive, and being dropped at check-in at the Bellagio to see something that is elsewhere may not save you much walking and there are usually multiple doors you can enter places that the driver could drop you off.

Good luck and enjoy the trip.

Yeah we stayed at Marriott's Grand Chateau. in June and took Uber/Lyft to Fontainebleau once and also to the Wynn for the buffet and it was very convenient. Uber/Lyft was very inexpensive as long as we checked both apps, because one of the two is often much lower-priced than the other, just randomly.

It seemed like the walk was not too far to the buffet after being dropped off at The Wynn. You might want to look into "prepaid priority seating" at the Wynn buffet to minimize the often long wait to be seated. We felt it was well worth it

You could consider renting a mobility scooter to make it easier (and sometimes harder) to get around.

hopefully see some of the the free performances at the hotels
I'm not sure what you are hoping to see, but there isn't much of this anymore. There might be live music in the bars/lounges, but not much else.

LV has a lot of walking. I'd concur with considering a mobility scooter. The Tiger Habitat at the Mirage is very well done. The Fremont street downtown is a spectacle and probably much easier walking than the strip though you'd need transportation to get there and back. I'd check with the concierge on recommendations for tours and possibly a scooter. The Hop on Hop off bus options might be helpful in your situation though they are aggravating at times as well. Generally the Rideshare drop off locations for the strip hotels are somewhat away from the action and could include a lot of walking as well. Regardless, planning should help a lot in maximizing your enjoyment.

The Tiger Habitat at the Mirage is very well done.
This has permanently closed.

Perhaps try:
  • Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
  • Flamingo Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo
  • I think they still do the Fall of Atlantis show at the Forum Shops at Caesars
  • There's the fountain show at the Bellagio and the Lake of Dreams show at the Wynn
  • If you head over to the Wynn, you could also go next door to the Encore - I think the Eastside lounge still offers free live music
  • The Nine Fine Irishmen at the NYNY offers live (traditional) Irish music on the weekends (Fri-Sun)
  • The Freemont Street Experience does a light show on the ceiling, but also has a stage a (usually free) concert series throughout the year

I appreciate all the replies and find them very helpful. Does anyone possibly have the calendar of resort activities for the week that they can share? Thank you.

If you download the MVC app, pull up Grand Chateau under Destinations, click Activities, then See Activity Schedule and it’s there.

That's a shame, it was well done.

The entire Mirage property has closed. It is being converted to a Hard Rock Casino with a giant guitar hotel. Not re-opening until 2027 or so.

Another question has come up if anyone can help. I read June Tripadvisor reviews about sidewalk closures around the Grand Chateau for new construction. Can anyone comment on how big an impact this is having on access to the building? Is there an estimated completion date as we are coming mid March. If it is extensive it may tip the scale for me on getting a mobility scooter versus just using ride share. Thanks for any help.

I wonder if it isn't in preparation for the F1 race? If so, it wasn't an issue for us last year and my wife uses a mobility scooter.

There is a new hotel under construction between Marriott and The Strip.

There is currently no active construction or demolition happening with no timeline on when it will start. The developer is still currently filing permits and amended plans.

I was there a week ago -- a lot of demolition has been done. Its possible that you're right that the demolition has stopped for the time being.

Yeah, it looked about the same when we were there last year. Not much progress lately.

We were just there last month and only noticed minimal construction across the street. If a new hotel is being built, we saw nothing of a sort. There's still a large parking lot directly across from the resort. Plenty of people were walking to/from the resort. We also noticed several scooters. If you're willing to do their timeshare promotion, we received $550 Vegas.com gift cards. That allowed us to do the Grand Canyon all day tour, MJ One Cirque de Soleil and one other free show. I only decided to do the promotion since it was my friend's first time in Vegas. I was finished in 45 minutes, while they kept her for 2 hours trying to convince her to buy, which she declined. I advised her ahead to time to just say no. :cheer:

Funny story, we will be there next month in a three bedroom unit. When I got the preference email I listed first preference as "high floor" and second preference as "near elevator". The second one is the funny one and impossible as all the three bedroom units are at the very end of the hallways.

Sorry to hear about your possible diagnosis. Hopefully you RA can get you on one of the biologics, which work wonders for RA.

You should have picked Vegas Strip view as your 2nd choice. It's stunning from the 3BR villas.

I'm not sure that Strip View was an option in the drop down. Since I've already made my selections I am blocked out from going back in to check.
