When Dr. J. played in the NBA, IMHO, the world never experience the real Julius Erving playing pro basketball. Dr. J. Played in the ABA, with the Virginian Squires, in Norfolk, VA in The Scope building. He could slam dunk on everyone in the ABA, including Artis Gilmore the seven (7) foot center, for the Kentucky Colonels.

Dr. J. was the early edition of Michael Jordan in pro basket. IMHO.
