Hello, The DW and I are looking at going to HI next year, a week on Oahu and a week on The Big Island.

We've never stayed on Oahu and I noticed that the washer and dryer are not in the room at the Lagoon Tower. How much of a pain in the neck is this? How many units on the floor are there to use? Are they always being used? We usually only bring a few days of clothing because we can do laundry in the unit. Is this going to be an issue? Thanks in advance!

I was able to use the laundry on my floor easily, but the room is extremely hot and humid. The housekeepers would gather in there and hang out and talk, sitting on the machines. They got out of the way, but it was weird that they were always in there. It wasn't a place where I'd hang out and wait for my clothes.

We also pack light and launder. We were at Lagoon Tower in June and used the laundry room several times and simply went back to our room and timed when the machines finished so we did not sit in the laundry room.

There was rarely anyone there, although we occasionally saw a maid but not for long. Surprisingly, with two washers and dryers we found benefits over the in-room units because we could run two loads all at once and be out by late morning when my teens woke up to go to the beach.

At Kingsland we had several frustrating problems with our first in-room unit and dishwasher and ultimately changed rooms so we could have working appliances. The in-room unit took longer to run each load sequentially so it felt like we were running laundry all the time.

You won't have a problem accessing the machines. Best time to use them are early in the morning and late at night. You can use any laundry room on any floor, therefore , if the one on your floor is being used just change floors.

Great idea! The stairs are right next to the laundry room which makes it faster than waiting for the elevator. I'll keep this in mind next time I need to run more than 2 loads at once or if the machines are in use. Thanks!
