Who else bought Olympics tickets during drop 1? I am so excited and thankful to go and can drive so don’t have to worry about flights but I am panicking a little about accommodations. Has anyone had this experience with trying to book a hgvc during a big event like this? Am I dumb to even try at the 9 month window given it’s also in July?Any advice would be appreciated!

My in-laws just got tickets and I may book something for them. Which resort were you thinking would be close?

I was thinking the Marbrisa or other Carlsbad resorts but the more I read about the possibility of a transportation nightmare I am not sure. Might need to do a night or two in LA…

Well they are about 2 hours on a great day. I think Riviera Beach & Shores, a Hilton Vacation Club would be closest and that is still over an hour.

How is this in the HGVC forum? What would be a better forum?

Not sure I follow, I was asking about booking a hgvc. If you think it’s in the wrong place feel free to move it though

I think the Carlsbad resorts are far enough away that they won't be any harder to book than a normal summer. But that is peak season so I'd book at the deadline.

I bought in drop 1 - we have 4 tickets for a preliminary baseball game, a volleyball game, and a handball game.

I also have Worldmark so I'm planning on booking one of the Anaheim resorts.

I got one full day of tickets for women's rugby. We had such a great experience in Paris--and needed only one night there to watch the USWNT do their thing. Which I told them they needed to do when I had purchased those tickets more than 2 years in advance, LOL!

But the prices are the highest I have ever seen for Olympics. In any country. And higher than both Paris and Cortina.

Not a problem, I wasn't following the connection. The HGVC resorts are all in Carlsbad, are they near wherever you want to see the Olympics?

No they’re in downtown LA but are later in the day and staying at a hgvc would allow cheaper accommodation and for easier parking of my car if I drove so I was trying to get opinions. The other option is flying and staying in downtown LA which I imagine will be quite pricey.

May want to consider trading a home week with someone that has closer access. Or could check some exchanges like RCI

Events are happening in Los Angeles, Inglewood, Carson, San Diego, San Jose, Pasadena, and Oklahoma.

As well as in Nashville and NYC and St. Louis (I might have missed one other soccer/football venue.) We might also get tickets to some of the matches in Nashville and NYC.

Thanks for the additional information @amycurl. Some soccer matches are happening in San Diego which would be good utilization for the Carlsbad locations.

Even Carlsbad is not a good location for San Diego events. I would try to book a hotel within walking distance.

I can only imagine what the marked up prices are going to be on the hotels. If you’re already an owner stay in Carlsbad and take the train to Snapdragon Stadium.
