I got an email advert from Koloa Landing yesterday and when I opened it, it talked about Koloa Landing being part of the Marriott Autograph Collection.

We stayed there 5 years ago and it didn't seem to be affiliated with Marriott at that time.

When did it change, and what role does Marriott play with it?

It used to be a Wyndham property until March 2016. Branded as Marriott in Jan. 2017.

Aloha,
If you look carefully at the google map link which is zoomed in to where the Marriott Koloa Landing is, you will see that google maps doesn't show the completed hotel / resort complex.

I'm not certain, but I don't think any of it was open five years ago. I'm not sure where you stayed five years ago, but perhaps

Koloa Landing has been around for at least 5 years. In the map, we stayed in a 3BR unit in the middle building near the "Kukui'ula Development Co" marker. From Google Maps, doesn't look like any new buildings have gone up since we stayed. We had two Waiohai weeks with a single night gap, and Waiohai was sold out, so we stayed the one night at Koloa. It was veeeeeeery nice, and we somehow snagged the 3BR ocean view for around $450. Main room walls were sliding glass that opened up from corner to corner. Were it not for the complete lack of beach access, we'd gladly stay there again.

Our son and DIL stayed there a couple years ago and really enjoyed it. Shortly thereafter we were staying at Waiohai so walked over to check it out. They showed a unit to us and we thought it would be a nice alternative for us in the future if we need one. Having it in the Autograph Collection is a nice feature too.

Best regards.

Mike

I wasn't very clear in my previous post about the google map showing the construction site. The buildings are all done now. We've walked the grounds and eaten at the Sam Choy restaurant within the grounds. It's fairly new stuff. Time flies. I didn't realize that some of the buildings were occupied five years ago.

When I read the words "Koloa Landing" I do not think timeshare but that finger of water off Hanakaape Bay. It is a great place to start a snorkel trip to a Nursery Reef. Many years ago it was a Landing for the Sugar Cane Trade.
