How hot and humid is Key West in May? We are thinking of going next year, but don't want to go when it's very hot and humid. I did look up the temperature. It shows average temp at 83 degrees, but I know average temps can be deceiving. Keep in mind I'm from Northern California.

IIRC, at that time of year, there is a usually a balmy breeze that flows thru to keep the humidity down and the climate very nice. I'd go then. July - August are to be avoided, not only becuz of the heat+humidity, but the frequent evacuations due to nearby huricanes.

According to www.weather.com, the historical high, low and mean on May 15 is: 85°F, 76°F, and 81°F, respectively. Not bad at all.

May can get pretty breezy on the coast.
Last year we had so many riptides couldn't get in the water in May.

It's might feel hot compared to California but you can always cool off by the pool and have a nice frozen concoction. ;)
