Last week I looked at the dates available for tubing and zip-lining, and there was plenty available for the week starting Nov 8th. Now for zip-lining there are not enough spots so we can all go together. I don't really want to go alone, so will just skip it this trip. We will still all get to do the tubing, so I'm looking forward to that.

For those who may be looking to book either of these activities, when you pay for the tubing adventure directly through Kauai Backcountry Adventures, they immediately give you a discount code for 10% off the zip-lining tour (https://kauaibackcountry.com/). If anyone is only planning to do the ziplining, I have one 10% off code left. If you can use it, please PM me and I will send it to you. Unfortunately, the way they apply the coupons is one coupon code required per person, you can't use it to get 10% your whole group.

My husband did see some re-sellers that may offer these tours more cheaply, but they did not show instant online availability or have the ability to book in real-time --they may be more like a concierge service. If your trip is several weeks away, you may be able to get a better discount than I did.

You could check with the concierge at the resort you are staying at. Some vendors hold spots for the concierge. I get calls all the time from the concierge at the Pono Kai for my renter's so excursions can be booked. Just a thought.

I did get an email from the concierge at Waiohai, and they suggested to book trips through them 3 weeks in advance (if I am recalling correctly). I was a little worried that if I waited until they got back to me about a reservation, the remaining spots may have gone already. You're right though, sometimes the concierge can pull off miracles through their vendor contacts. Good idea.
