Outrigger Hospitality Group has agreed to purchase the Kā‘anapali Beach Hotel on Maui. The resort opened in 1962 and is located on Kā‘anapali Beach, recently named the best beach in the United States and the #10 beach in the world by TripAdvisor. (We’ve been to the #3 beach, which was incredible.) The deal will close on July 26th when the hotel will be renamed the Outrigger Ka’anapali Beach Resort and become the company’s first full-service resort on Maui.

There's a post on FB where somebody at KBH's Huihui restaurant asked if they still wanted their reservation, stating that the restaurant would be closed the next day. No other info was given, but I'd like to think the new owners aren't about to close a brand new restaurant that has prime views of the water. We actually really enjoyed our meals there.

Edit: Just read this on TripAdvisor's forum:
What I can add is the employees of HuiHui have been told that Outrigger does not want to run the restaurant and are being let go.
Yikes.

This makes me so sad! We love HuiHui and I was so worried this might happen. Those poor employees!

Here is another thread on TA. It talks more about the hotel but there are posts about the restaurant as well.

I am now seeing posts on the TA Maui forum saying that Hui Hui will be closing with their last day being July 25, 2023. I have asked for a link to verify this, not that I think they are making it up.

We often extend our Maui trips with a stay at KBH, and honestly, this has me questioning whether or not we should continue to do so.

This from TA from someone who lives on Maui.

"Who and what is your official source, [to the person who posted]? "Word", Coconut Wireless, etc?

All this hu hu and panic! There are so many facets to a sale like this one, and as I previously said--might Outrigger farm it out--sure.

As I also already said--of course it's not on Open Table after the 25th. Outrigger doesn't have the contract for it with OT.

Since the restaurant has another 2 months nearly, I think it's very sad to post this information without any concrete source--it could cost employees much more because people will read the title and not go.

There is NO notice to the Liquor Commission yet, which will have to be done.

I still question whether this is accurate."
