I just completed an exchange for Fairway Villas in New Jersey for Sept 2010.

We're golfers; I spent some time looking at the courses before deciding to go for it. I welcome golf advice from experience there. (not on MY GAME, but on the courses themselves :D )

I expect perhaps a trip to Atlantic City to gamble once, and a trip to the beach as well.

Please chime in if you have any ideas, opinions, etc.

Thanks,
Pat

In my experience at the 2 courses:
  • Wear the best bug spray you can find, especially on the Bay Course
  • You have to hit much straighter on the Pines Course than the Bay Course
  • There is a lot more wind on the Bay Course, as expected
  • These are not cheap courses, so you might get paired with some really good golfers (may be good or bad, depending on your game)
  • The rates drop significantly after 2pm (or around there)
  • The ranger gets around

Although the bugs are annoying, the courses are still great and fun to play.

There are some very nice restaurants at the hotels in Atlantic City.

We like the Borgata http://www.theborgata.com/ for the Old Homestead and Bobby Flay Steak and The Piers at Ceasers Palace http://www.caesarsac.com/casinos/caesars-atlantic-city/casino-misc/cac-pier-dining-detail.html - the restaurants and bars are on the third level of a building built out over the ocean with a shopping mall below. There is a great 'food court' style area with wonderful casual prepared foods - and u sit at tables overlooking the ocean...same thing with several bars or even just people strolling. The restaurants we like there are Philip's Seafood, and Buddakan and we have had happy hour drinks at The Trinity Pub & Carvery.
